weatherman90 7 Posted January 6, 2005 Couldn't help but notice the way B.B King looked there, Football Fan was right, he doesnt look a day over 70. I might have to rethink my consideration for him this year.
Guest Guest Posted January 14, 2005 Les Paul is a guitar player *NOT* a guitar maker!!! Yes, Gibson makes guitars named after him. He doesn't build them though.
Anubis the Jackal 77 Posted January 14, 2005 Les Paul is a guitar player *NOT* a guitar maker!!! Yes, Gibson makes guitars named after him. He doesn't build them though. Mr Paul designed the Les Paul model produced by Gibson, apparently well before Leo Fender started selling his first solid-bodied electric guitars. He also invented many other musical innovations such as the multi-track recorder. He originally built this model of guitar himself, before Gibson manufactured it comercially. Therefore, Mr Paul is unarguably a guitar builder. For a brief over-view of his illustrious career try here or here "When I introduce myself to people, they are always surprised to learn that I'm not a guitar and I'm not dead!". Les Paul. Banshees Scream 110 Posted May 19, 2005 Maybe all the excitement of his 90th will kill him I can say he seems to be somewhat in fair health. I bealive he even still does a performance here and there so i doubt his death will arrive anytime soon.' Though in life they say never doubt. Although i cant say i agree. musikooluk 0 Posted May 20, 2005 I thought 'I BEALIVE' was a Frankie Laine hit, not Les Paul. And I don't think either Frankie or Les ever recorded 'I PUT A SPELL ON YOU'. Brian
maryportfuncity 10,684 Posted June 9, 2005 On the day the great man turns ninety I can't help thinking his inclusion this year was a bad call. He's doing one of those 'wall to wall celebrity mates' albums, a celebration gig and lots of other things that suggest 90 is nothing much to him. Then again, there's always the chance he'll die of boredom during Peter Frampton's turn at the celebration gig.
Banshees Scream 110 Posted June 9, 2005 I say as of right now and i'am just guessing that he will have the least chance of dieing on the 2005 list. But then again i predicted Sir John Mills as a man to reach his 100th birthday..... Such a bad call
maryportfuncity 10,684 Posted July 21, 2005 Just heard and old Les Paul and Mary Ford record on the radio, sounds positively bizarre by today's standards but his flashy fretwork still shines. She'd be a mere 87........if she hadn't died in 1977. Maybe guitar playing is the secret. Segovia - Spanish master of the instrument - was still gigging in his nineties. Ahhh but lets not forget that Segovia was DeathList's first ever success on the first list in 1987

Guest NomadWolf Posted August 28, 2005 Les is still performing live at the Iridium club in New York, two sessions every Monday. Les Paul is in fact playing there every Monday. I saw him there in July, he is spry, smart ,quick, and not gonna buy the farm unless a bus hits him.
