Sir Creep 7,070 Posted January 4, 2019 Still pissed off when I search "Lindy Remigino uk bbc" and first thing that pops up is "DDP 2018 List of the Lost",
YoungWillz 21,046 Posted January 8, 2019 Right my pretty little cardsharps, the period of grace for late notifications of death and qualifying obits is over, and it is time to close the Casino doors for 2018! I'd like to thank everyone who entered for playing along. I know you are all moving along to your respective football grounds to start training your Deathlist Cup teams, but afore you go, it is time to review the game and settle up. Unlike last year, we had a couple of long hiatuses (for that is the plural I'm going with) in what seemed to be the Grim Reaper on furlough. Now I don't blame the players here, you did your best in the face of increasing healthcare across society! You can only play the hand you are dealt! As a result, overall pointage was down on 2017. Remigino not obiting came as a surprise to most players, but in the end it would not have mattered to the eventual winner, though the placings might have been different. A run of obits at the end which were for the chasing pack made for an exciting finish, only for our leader's last hit of the year failing to obit in the ultimate anti-climax! So here is the result. If you entered last year, your placing (out of 16 entrants from 2017) is in brackets, along with last year's score. 1st: Death Impends - 1080 Points (1st; 1605 Points) 2nd: Captain Chorizo - 968 Points (3rd; 1190 Points) 3rd: msc - 840 Points (8th; 1035 Points) 4th: Phantom Of The Midway - 818 Points (9th; 1020 Points) 5th: FujimoriNoMorey - 710 Points (-) 6th: Clorox Bleachman - 705 Points (-) 7th: Joey Russ - 647 Points (6th; 1059 Points) 8th: Sir Creep - 631 Points (-) =9th: Bibliogryphon - 515 Points (14th; 605 Points) =9th: The Old Lady - 515 Points (-) 11th: Torva Messor - 514 Points (-) 12th: YoungWillz - 503 Points (15th; 405 Points) 13th: gcreptile - 500 Points (4th; 1133 Points) 14th: Sean - 428 Points (11th; 653 Points) 15th: Toast - 413 Points (5th; 1080 Points) 16th: Yorkshire Banker - 404 Points (-) 17th: Fixed Business - 400 Points (-) 18th: Skinny Kiltrunner - 225 Points (-) 19th: Gooseberry Crumble - 205 Points (16th; 200 Points) 20th: Doulton - 200 Points (-) 21st: Wouk This Way - 122 Points (-) So Death Impends successfully defends his title and enters the Hall of Fame once again. I'll assume you want your charity donation to go to the cat's charity again, unless you say otherwise. Podium places to Captain Chorizo and msc - a valiant tussle. Special mentions go out to FujimoriNoMorey and Clorox Bleachman as highest placed new entrants and of course to Joey Russ who has once again had the most subs die, costing him dearly, and as a result gets his portrait in the Casino toilets for the second year running! As it turns out on points, I am most improved player on 2017, so I'll take a pat on the back from myself for my trouble! If you can be bothered, we might all open the casino later in the year for the next exciting card game! YW. 4
Death Impends 7,975 Posted January 8, 2019 Yes, go ahead with the cat donation once more. A bit disappointing that the juicier bonuses didn't really come into play this time (certainly a pisser when a "broadsheet obit a few weeks later" type goes so close to the end!), but a win's a win!

Oh I do hope you are able to run another one of your brilliant poker pools this year but of course I will fully understand if circumstances mean it isn't possible.
