Three teams picked Henry Gray here. Still waiting for press outside of Louisiana though.

Henry Gray still has not caused any reverberations outside of his home turf, but fecking hell three unique centenarian deaths learned of today! However only Katherine Johnson has QO'd thus far. Her mathematical prowess proved crucial towards NASA's spaceflights, but with her talents no longer available, Excel will have to do for calculating the trajectory of YorkshireBanker's team following the Hidden Figure's death... and it is a boost of 20 base points and 8 unique bonus points for 28 in all.

Awaiting an obit are Chitetsu Watanabe (the world's oldest man should obit, but after Gustav Gerneth, who knows?) and Baby Peggy (obit guaranteed). I'll post a new scoreboard this time tomorrow.

And I see The Australian gets the ball rolling regarding Baby Peggy obits... With both now QOing there's no reason to wait.

Watanabe delivers 20 base points and 8 unique points to DeathByArsenic. Pedro gets on the board with Diana Serra "Baby Peggy" Cary whose silence provides him with 30 base points and 12 unique points for 42.

And so now it's a tie at the top! Exciting times with this cavalcade of collapsing centenarians...

The trio of superstars who juuuust made 100 and then went "feck it", George Burns, Bob Hope, and now Javier Perez de Cuellar...

Yep, the DL's most exciting pick has died, and three teams are UNited in getting points. markb4 and The Unknown Man both receive 35 points, while The Quim Reaper gets 15.

Indeed, after a good innings of 105 years John Manners scores a bit more than a half-century for Exu. 40 base points and 16 unique bonus points for 56 in all.

Genesis dies!

Yep, as the three bears wonder where their P-Orridge went, 10 teams pick up some hearty points totals, aided by the fact that P-Orridge also played drums for a spell.

35 + 14 = 49 for Book, Clorox, drol, gcreptile, maryportfuncity, Sean, and The Unknown Man

25 + 10 = 35 for msc and RadGuy

and second sub hit for Chorizo giving him 50 points.

Proves for exciting times at the top with maryportfuncity now narrowly ahead of RadGuy in spite of the Belso LotLer and both benefiting from P-Orridge.

Hmm, brief attack of vertigo coming on here. Though I'm fast running out of talent given that Belso took up a place and paid out no points. Good game so far

Suzy Delair's plunge into despair continues the centenarian carnage. Since the start of February, there's been nine hits and one LotLer - seven were over 100! Anyhow, the Laurel and Hardy co-star benefits DeathByArsenic with 25 base points and 10 bonus points for 35 in all.

Now, I thought Henry Gray was a lost cause for the QO, but what do you know? The veteran bluesman had a Guardian angel...

The belated beneficiaries are Sir Creep on the board with a hefty 50 points, Skinny with 45, and msc with 20. No one on Sir Creep or Skinny's teams has died post-Gray, but msc had Gray right below P-Orridge and so with Gray now a qualifying hit, the value of the P-Orridge hit deflates by 7 points.

Deane Sutherland was picked here by Sir Creep. Pretty much Stuff.co.nz or bust so the wait begins to see if they oblige with an obit.

Well one ray of hope - for people dying during these interesting times:

A service for Deane will be held at a later date when restrictions have been lifted.”

So there will remain a slim chance in the months ahead some sort of mention may be posted when said memorial service takes place.

*crossing fingers real hard*

i take it the NZ Herald doesn’t count on this pool.....as you see (below) that is where the quoted obit came from.

Nope. I list the acceptable QOs in the OP and Stuff.co.nz is the only Kiwi source that qualifies.

From Fleming assistant to pioneering allergist, Dr. William Frankland led quite the remarkable 108 years. Though Frankland dodged multiple close brushes with death (such as while a WWII POW), in the end it was old, old age that forced the Grim Reaper to get over his allergies and knock the doc out.

Pedro67 was alone in picking Frankland on the main team, and his total is nothing to sneeze at: 45 base points plus 18 unique ones for a total of 63. Additionally, Clorox Bleachman had Frankland on the subs bench and is prescribed 25 points.

Points galore for Bibliogryphon, he must be dreaming... He stood alone in expecting Honor Blackman to get the boot this year, and thus her death delivers a gale of 35 base points plus 28 bonus points for combined uniqueness and pantomime bonuses. 63 points in all has him off the mark with style.

The next scoreboard sees a few teams clawing upward, but the tightness at the summit remains unchanged:

Stirling Moss gained renown for winning tons of Formula One competitions in spite of never winning its gold standard, the World Championship. I'd say that has a deadpooling analogy, only I up and ruined it by finally winning the DDP last year...

Anywho, a sterling pick for Great Uncle Bulgaria, who revs up into the scoreboard with 50 base points plus 20 for uniqueness. theoldlady had him in her reserves and gains 25 points.

Firstly, points for Jill Gascoine, who qualifies for the panto bonus. Three teams picked her:

the_engineer 25 + 10 = 35.

Exu 15 + 6 = 21.

and 25 sub points for The Old Crem.

Secondly, as noted in the rules the host has the right to award random tiny bonuses for any reason of their choosing. With corona running rampant I shall award .19 points to any main team hits who die of the coronavirus. So far this has been applied to Pedro's William Frankland hit. That could well be the only coronavirus hit here but you never know.

Denis Goldberg menaced many in his life, first the apartheid government in South Africa by fighting their injustice (notably so as a white person), and in his final few years many a deadpooler by lasting quite long for an octogenarian with stage 4 lung cancer. But the end has come, and two teams are rewarded for their patience:

CaptainChorizo 20 base points and 8 unique points for 28 in all.

the_engineer 25 sub points.

It worked out for you in the end, Sir Creep. Stuff.co.nz took an interest in Deane Sutherland's lack of memorial service. 45 base points and 18 unique points for spying the hit, which sees you hovering as a satellite just outside the top ten.

msc gets his second hit from the subs bench, and like the first it is delivered via a tackling sportsman. This time he had propped up Welsh rugby player Steve Blackmore with 50 points coming his way.

It's not quite Saturday night, but Joey Russ just got paid with points off the demise of the great Little Richard. But the meager point value almost drives him crazy: 5 point base value is bolstered by an extra 6 for the uniqueness and Hollywood Squares bonuses. A whomp whomp aloo bomp a lomp bam boom!
