Possessed by the spirit of Adrian Mole, in case anyone missed it on Twitter and Facebook, here's my Ode To Lou Reed Lou Boo Lou, boo hoo! Seriously though, sad if not surprising news following his liver transplant earlier in the year, especially as it seemed before it he really was not long for this world. His Manchester Palace Theatre gig (well, more a recital really) in 1992 is still the best sound I've ever witnessed at a concert and, following hushed reverence as the lights went down following the intermission, him walking onto stage to giggles after someone shouted out very loudly in a thick, Northern accent "oh, ey oop, it's Lou!" will remain one of my favourite gig memories. RIP you grumpy old bugger.

Picture Tweeted by Margaret Atwood of her and Alice Munro on Sunday. I guess she looks kinda frail, but not that awful.

Another meltdown of the whole country for no good fucking reason. Although tragedy struck at my house overnight, when the lid off the recycling box moved slightly, allowing a Marisota catalogue to escape from it's confines to underneath my patio table. Thankfully there were no serious injuries. GET A FUCKING GRIP, BRITAIN. CANCELLING TRAINS INDEED. NO WONDER WE'RE THE FUCKING LAUGHING STOCK OF THE UNIVERSE.

Although it'll possibly be overshadowed by the death of Lou Reed, Vinko Coce who came 6th in the 1994 Dora (Yugoslavian Eurovision pre-selection) with this rather entertaining piece of schlager, has died. Not sure what of, but judging by his size, I'll go with a heart attack or similar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_n1H-GWxz0

Is that a variation for when you can't find any pitta bread?

More usually its a way to impart some interesting, pertinent knowledge without getting the person who told you, or yourself, into trouble. The person who told me was in a position to know, but I'll be damned if i'm going to stick his name out there to be sued. I'm a copper and I met him on a course, if you must know. Also, any money made by the Tapas 7 off the back of their involvement would be seized of they were ever convicted of an offence connected to her disappearance. They were all doctors/partners of doctors and, personally, I think the lot of them were drugging their kids for a quiet life and Maddie was the unfortunate one who OD'd. By revealing the truth, they'd all be struck off and in no danger of being able to continue the lifestyle in which they were accustomed. The idea of losing everything you've spent your life working for is a strong motivator. With regard their self publicity, I must admit I'm flummoxed by it too. I'm no psychologist, but I suppose perhaps they've dug too deep a hole in the initial stages to ever appear to have given up. They've also made a fair bit of cash of the back of it, some of which was (until they were caught out, of course) used to pay their mortgage rather than search for Maddie.

Bought the Alex Ferguson autobiography. I thought I had finished reading it but then another six pages appeared!
