Keir Starmer

Exactly. That bloke's a nutter, as they said on the adverts folk round here don't remember.

If Starmer had any sense, he'd be getting alternatives in place, rather than sitting down to dinner with him. Trump tells the world to go fuck itself. I'm content with fucking off as far as possible for four years and sorting our problems/challenges elsewhere.

I maintain it is unpleasant to watch the leader of our country writhe in the dirt, rather than do something else, however distasteful it may seemingly be.

Politically he can’t. Getting closer to the EU will not be accepted by Tory or Reform voters or much of the media. Starmer is too unpopular to be able to take them on.

He's got a huge majority for four and a half years.

Fuck the Tories and fuck Reform and get things done. Why should we be poorer still because Badenoch or Farage might say something that might make the sheeple cry?

Because a huge majority is worthless if MP’s are worried about the next election already. And it seems a lot of Labour MP’s are already worried about if they will be unemployed come 2029.

I really don't care for job security of MPs. If they want to be more secure, they become agile and foresee the challenges that come. They make stuff better. They restore a pride (not a jingoistic wave the flag pride, but real pride) in the country. Tinkering and faffing about with criminal leaders doesn't cut it in my book.

He can force bitter medicine to us for a while as punishment for voting for the previous lot and getting things on track. Remains to be seen if he is a leader or just another junk politician. Nobody's shooting at Starmer so far. ;)

According to the Times Trump’s tariffs could cause 0.9% drop in the GDP of the UK. Obvious common sense to do a trade deal and politically doing one with the USA rather than Europe might help Labour.

What’s this got to do with Keir Starmer living or dying?

I was reading about social media dying / being dead yesterday evening. Instagram and Facebook are being spammed with political memes, like the ratio has become ridiculously high. It's not only the algorithms, it's also the people who just can't stop sharing their opinions - that were not being asked for.

The political ratio here is still low, and the political posts can go into the off-topic section. I hope it stays this way. Because politics has become a disease.

If he ever read them I'm sure Crem's ill-formed notions could shave several seconds off Keir's life.

Leaving aside the fact that this is in completely the wrong thread:

In 2023, the EU accounted for 41% of UK exports and 51% of its imports. The US accounted for 22% of exports and 13% of imports.

It would make more sense to make trade deals with the EU.

Or maybe (and this is a wild idea) have free trade between the UK and its nearest and biggest trading partners. Especially since they are not going to suddenly slap on tariffs on a whim, just because they don't like the trade imbalance.

But of course that wouldn't work, because the EU is full of those pesky German and French folk that the UK seem to dislike so much.
