Hartlepool Deadlypool 2021

Recommended Posts

Carlos Menem continues an extravagant February for the Hartlepool's participants. He was widely anticipated as an early-year death and so is largely a lucrative hit for his lucky 13 selectors. Mind, his record as president, while far from illustrious, doesn't seem to qualify for crimes against humanity at a glance. More of a typical corrupto.

50 points for CaptainChorizo, gcreptile, and GuyFromFuture. Chorizo gets a third consecutive 50 pointer, and leaves Gail Halvorsen nervously watching his step.

45 for Annami, Lynchian, and msc.

40 for Book, Eesti, Funeralopolis, Sean, and Torva Messor.

30 for Perhaps.

25 for En Passant.

I would beg to differ using this human rights report

Still not persuaded. The report does not paint a good picture, but I keep the crimes against humanity bar high rather than award it to every sketchy world leader - far too many of those out there! Among Argentine leaders alone, Menem's record is practically spotless compared to junta figures such as Jorge Rafael Videla.

Befits a fat fuck like Rush Limbaugh that he is a hefty scorer for the Hartlepool! The most popular pick with 25 teams - more than half of the total participants - many of his selectors make major gains. The following now triumphantly puff their cigars as they blather out some far-right conspiracy bile. Okay, maybe not that last part...

50 points for maryportfuncity.

45 for LizLemon, Lynchian, markb4, msc, Pedro67, The Daredevil, and The Quim Reaper.

40 for Eesti, Funeralopolis, Perhaps, The Old Crem, theoldlady, and Torva Messor.

35 for Book, En Passant, and gcreptile.

30 for An Fear Beag and drol.

25 for Annami.

15 for Charles de Gaulle.

10 for The Unknown Man.

and 25 sub points for CaptainChorizo, Great Uncle Bulgaria, and the_engineer.

Phew!

Just two new deaths represented in this latest scoreboard but both were very popular picks. Perhaps had both Menem and Limbaugh which allows for him to fend off the advances many other teams are making and hold on to the lead. But many of the most obvious picks have now been used up so the differential picks are likely to play kingmaker for the coming months...

Sean sits proud as a peacock as Trevor Peacock becomes no no no no more. 35 base points plus 14 base points delivers Sean 49 total and sees him leave a trail of distinctive blue-green feathers up the scoreboard.

Lee Noble's peace is prized by defending champ maryportfuncity, who punches in a unique hit. 40 base points plus 16 in bonus delivers him a heavyweight 56.

And with that is the next scoreboard. In contrast to the colossal hits in February of Spinks, Davies, Menem, and Limbaugh, the March hits so far have been exclusively uniques.

The streak of unique hits continues, and this one also ends a looong dry spell. DDT had a tough time finding his groove in the HPDP after the loss of his mascot, Sister Wendy Beckett. 2019 and 2020's valiant efforts both ended in nil points. With the death of trailblazing Egyptian feminist doctor Nawal El Saadawi, DDT escapes the arid Sahara and quenches his dry spell with the waters of the Nile, or summat. He obtains 25 base points plus 10 unique bonus points to get 35 total.

Intense competition hereabouts - struggling to defend the title, but I do have seven of my starters left :)

:D That's beautiful.   I've got a good feeling I might get at least one more hit this year.

Beverly Cleary had risen considerably on the community's centenarian totem pole after last year's carnage, but in the HPDP only markb4 could see Cleary now. He is rewarded 20 base points and 8 extra for uniqueness, for 28 total.

Cult hero of Romanian music Rodion Rosca becomes another unique here to die. Now CalebH waits to see if The Guardian retains the interest in Rodion it previously displayed in 2018.

Not long after the last Watergate burglar died, the chief Plumber has been flushed out. G. Gordon Liddy has died, and his love of the media spotlight (with his own radio show and numerous TV guest spots) stood in stark contrast to the burglars so reclusive they died off radar! No wiretapping required to be informed of my points obtained, which is 30 base points and 12 bonus unique points, for 42 total.

Quick Phil the Greek update before I head off to work...

The streak of unique hits has ended with a heavyweight death. Prince Philip has died, if you haven't heard already. Unsurprisingly given his zombie-like appearance he was a popular selection with our collective, and 10 teams Greece up their totals as the Duke gets Edin-buried.

45 points for chilean way and Pedro67.

40 for Dying Probably.

35 for Book.

25 for Eesti, LizLemon, and markb4.

20 for The Old Crem.

and 25 sub points for En Passant and The Quim Reaper.

And with that comes a new scoreboard, with Perhaps clinging on to his lead but with Book and Eesti royally rising to narrow the margins.

Aye, and ask the full adjudication panel if the entire royal family count as a pantomime (some of the most popular of which contain a prince)

Totally unbiased advice since I have no skin in this particular issue - and seven skins conspicuously still alive on my team!

The prince is usually transgender though. ;)

Shirley Williams  is a consolation hit for me here. I dropped her for my Hare's team this year.

She doesn't seem to be on your team here either.

You are right. I prepared one team then I must have left it on my computer unentered and had to cobble a second one together on my phone. Another fail.

Can @Bibliogryphon have 0.375 'nearly' points or something?

I like your way of thinking.

Letsee.

Shirley Williams co-founded the SDP.

S = 19th letter of the alphabet

D = 4th

P = 16th

19 + 4 + 16 = 39 points, throw in a decimal point to make it a much smaller 3.9 which is the consolation score Bibliogryphon receives for his mistaken omission. With this hearty haul he gets his first points of the game.

0.39 is closer to DDP's way of thinking ;)
