At this point, @wannamakerleads with 5.624 points followed by @MortalCasowith 3.630 points and @Salmon Mousse with 2.730 points.

If Prescott scores, @arghtonwould be on second place!

Well, it looks like we have a countable mention: https://nazory.hn.cz/c1-67134910-dane-a-penzijni-system-cesko-si-z-bdquo-ukolu-ldquo-zesnuleho-nobelisty-prescotta-vybralo-lehci-pulku

They say "deceased economist", so...

Congrats @arghton 4.730 points for an American octogenarian economist, honoured in the 2000s.

Please choose another laureate for economic sciences, please.

I'll take Joseph Eugene Stiglitz as far as I know not picked by anyone else

Swiss physicist and 1987 Nobel laureate in physixs, K. Alex Müller, has died aged 95:

https://www.swissinfo.ch/ger/alle-news-in-kuerze/physik-nobelpreistraeger-karl-alex-mueller-stirbt-mit-95-jahren/48209386

He is worth 1.520 points as a nonagenarian physics laureate from the 1980s. Congrats @Book for the right prediction, just two weeks before this pool closes. (You can choose a new physics laureate, if you want...)

Ah thanks, my very first hit here :)

I'm sure I will have another hit with Klaus von Klitzing!

The Nobel Prize Dead Pool 2022/23 is now officially closed.

The winner is @wannamaker who scored 5624 points, followed by @arghton with 4.738 points and @MortalCaso is third with 3.630 points. Congrats to you!

Extra points have been awarded for @chilean way (plus one point for the oldest death of this years contest) and @arghton as well (plus 8 points for the oldest hit).

Three other contestants have  also scored: @Salmon Mousse has 2.730 points, @Book has 1.520 points and @chilean way finally 1.421 points.

Despite the new possibility of replacing a deceased candidate by another laureate of the same category, no one scored more than once this year.

The hits 2022/23 in detail:
Two hits were physics laureates (Mottelson and Müller), the four other laureates came from different categories: Medicine/Physiology (Montagnier), Peace (Gorbachev), Chemistry (Curl) and Economic Sciences (Prescott).
There occured no death of a Nobel laureate in literature the third year in a row. Two Nobel laureates (Altman and Trimble) did not score, since they were not chosen by anyone.

To make it short: This was a silent year in this pool.

Thanks to everyone for participating and all the best!
