The Old Crem 3,580 Posted September 30 The Times say a by election in a Tory held seat near Welwyn Hatfield will probably occur during this parliamentary term. Oliver Dowden in Hertsmere? Richard Fuller in North Bedfordshire?

Aye, I'm thinking Sunak is back to big bucks in international finance, likely off to America and probably in ten years heading up some global investment operation and/or managing finance on a global scale. I'm sticking with what I said a while back, he's the first PM who took the job thinking it wouldn't be the biggest job of his career.
The Old Crem 3,580 Posted October 27 Cooed be a by election in Runcorn and Helsby if Mike Amesbury resigns. Fairly good chance of a Reform gain if it happens - even a strong Reform second place would have a major political effect and be a big story.
Brad252 803 Posted October 27 I'm expecting Amesbury will have lost the whip by tomorrow. This does look like an inevitable by-election, but how quickly depends on how long he brazens it out (as in will he resign or hold out until a potential jail sentence is passed down). Labour had just over 52% in July, Reform second on just over 18% - totally agree, if it gets anywhere close to a Reform gain that'd be a story. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runcorn_and_Helsby_(UK_Parliament_constituency)
Sod's Law 443 Posted October 28 Reform would be helped if turnout is extremely low even by by-election standards, which wouldn't surprise me. It's only months after a general election, a potentially painful budget will still be fresh in everyone's minds and no party is drumming up much enthusiasm for its cause at the moment.

Stuff like putting the bus cap up from £2 to £3 as confirmed this morning will be massively unpopular in a seat like that.

maryportfuncity 10,630 Posted November 4 Given the tonnage of cabinet posts Labour have created the Tories - with a handful of former senior appointees making it clear they're limiting themselves to the back benches - simply can't muster enough shadow posts to match Labour's complete list of ministers. Despite that I'm not seeing former holder of major office Suella Braverman being singled out for seniority by the new leader So, d'ya think she'll offer her services to Reform? I'm told that Reform met with her and she was initially onboard, then starting flaking, so eventually Farage gave up on her and now they're "not interested". Doesn't mean they won't take her later but she was supposed to defect before now.

I'd say we can rule out the celbrity jungle where she's concerned.
