Captain Oates 21 Posted July 12, 2005 Just to illustrate how much spare time I have, I decided to check how 2005 was doing overall. The result is that 2005's 6 deaths brings it to 11th place out of a possible 19*. *This includes the 1988 list which I recorded as having a 0 success rate. So we are not doing that badly and winter has still to come. Isn't this where we usually have the discussion about whether more people die in the winter cold or in the summer heat? Windsor 2,233 Posted July 13, 2005 Isn't this where we usually have the discussion about whether more people die in the winter cold or in the summer heat? From my experiences (working in an old folks home(kitchen)) I can say that the deaths are evenly distributed throughout the year regardless of season. But people do claim that the winter cold finishes them off.
Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted July 13, 2005 what about 2003 when it was superhot in Europe, and thousands of people above the normal levels died in France and Italy? http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/09/11/...ain572686.shtml I don't think there's the same massive numbers of deaths when it gets really cold, not even in a fact-based scenario like the one so convincingly portrayed in the Day After Tomorrow ("the temperature's dropping ten degrees a second!") Windsor 2,233 Posted July 13, 2005 I stand corrected. But then again we don't expect weather like that this summer.

Windsor 2,233 Posted July 13, 2005 I stand corrected. But then again we don't expect weather like that this summer. When will you be expecting it then, in the winter months perchance? I was thinking more along the lines of it happening next summer or the summer after that actually.
BrunoBrimley 86 Posted July 13, 2005 [ Oh, I see. Wouldn't it just be easier to fire up the sun rays now and get it over with? I mean what will you do if you're among the dead next year? Wouldn't that be a shameful thing to have squandered an opportunity of a blistering summer? You simply must pack your valise immediately and head to a sweltering locale. BrunoBrimley 86 Posted July 13, 2005 [ I just did it to do it for the sake of doing it. In addition to that there is the added factor of it taking less space when all the words are summarily obliterated.

millwall32 114 Posted September 3, 2005 Is it just me or does anyone else think this year isnt going so well, it might speed up again towards the end of the year, but only 5 deaths in 6 months? Is it always this slow? As a relatively new member I would love it if the rate were to pick up. I think I am right in saying that whoever dies next will be the first new death I have experienced on DL. Hopefully, if you see what I mean, things will pick up toward the end of the year. # Biggs next? We can but hope so.
Banshees Scream 110 Posted September 3, 2005 Biggs next? We can but hope so. I may regret saying this as i've said before but i doubt anyone will be shouting "It's Biggs!" anytime soon. I think he's more of an actor then an ill Ambassador.

Banshees Scream 110 Posted August 13, 2006 Just have patience - Patience brings time - And time brings death This sounds familiar: Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you. Sorry, I'm on a Star Wars overload. I guess you can't hear me anymore IYG?
