RIP Edie Ceccarelli. Unexpected news, as she seemed to be in good shape in her birthday. New OLP in the USA is Elizabeth Francis of Texas.

She has had dementia for at least 5 years, hardly unexpected to me.

Maria Branyas was born in the USA so technically American. Maybe she will move back to spend her retirement years in Florida or something.

Eddie Ceccarelli was the oldest person in the US as of January 3, 2023 (1 year and 50 days), she was the oldest person in the country since Hester Ford, who was between November 23, 2019 and April 17, 2021 ( 1 year and 145 days), the oldest person to die in the US since Susannah Mushatt Jones, who died at 116 years and 311 days on May 12, 2016. She died in California, which since Gertrude Baines became the oldest person in the US between November 26, 2008 and September 11, 2009 did not have the oldest person in the US. His successor, Elizabeth Francis, lives in Texas, which has not had an elderly person in the country since Eunice Sanborn, who was there between April 2010 and January 31, 2011.
Eddie was the 29th oldest person ever (validated), 8th in US history (his successor is 37th)

Did they go on a mass purge of them to avoid paying their pensions or something?

Something got lost in the translation, what I wrote was that Texas doesn't have the oldest person in the country since Eunice, I don't know why it was translated like that
I'm sorry and thank you very much for the humorous way of informing

Since 2017 the WOLP was from Japan (Nabi Tajima, Chiyo Miyako, Kane Tanaka). Now we have a French WOLP.

I wonder when could a Japanese person take this title again...

Apparently there are quite a lot non-Japanese strong possible future candidates (Juniewicz, Morera, Benegas, Rojas, Ceccarelli ), while the Japanese 114+ supercentenarians seem very frail or their status is unknown (not a good sign). Of course we have seen frail supercentenarians from Japan getting the WOLP title, but I think that still a stronger supercentenarian has better chances.

Despite being very frail Fusa Tatsumi actually managed to become world's 2nd oldest person and remain in this position for almost a year outliving various other SCs.

Now it is 2024 and the oldest person is still non-Japanese. I think that Tomiko Itooka could possibly outlive both Morera and Ceccarelli and become world's oldest person in the future. In any case, top Japanese SCs have been hit hard during the last year, but this was somewhat predictable due to their frailness, now only the 2 most physically strong are still living (Tomiko Itooka, Okagi Hayashi) and the one who formerly appeared strong (Masa Matsumoto). Kame Uema remains a mystery despite her claimed age is around 114.5 now.

Most likely we will have again a Japanese WOLP. After Ceccarelli's death and Itooka becoming  world's 2nd oldest person there is now a very strong possibility for her to become WOLP since Maria is already nearly 117 and recent posts in her social media point to a worsening health.

Concerning Kame Uema if she gets validated it would mean we still have a Top 10 full of 114+-year-olds.

Juan Vicente Perez Mora has allegedly outlived not just every USA male older than him but every USA female older than him too. This is just an extremely unlikely scenario for a man living in rural Venezuela. Can there be any credence in the alleged very old records of a remote rural area of Venezuela?

In 1940 in the Usa only half of American's had indoor plumbing,it's reasonably likely that some of the American Supercentenarians spent their childhood and much of their adult life leaving in similiar conditions to Mora.

Remember when Dr. Inspector PLANet said no one has ever seen any documents proving Perez Mora was born in 1909? He was on to something big time with that one. Also, unrelated but I accidentally uploaded a random image which is a church baptismal record of some 2-day-old boy from 29 May 1909 to this post. Can anyone tell me how to delete it?

What an amateur. The Chinese People's Liberation Army has officers way older than that. I hope they don't waste space in the ground by burying her.
