football_fan 42 Posted September 2, 2005 Well, Fats has been found alive and in good condition, all things considered. As far as parts of the US resembling a 3rd world country...oh yeah, definitely. Near total anarchy and thug rule. I think we started working towards become a 3rd world country when a little less than half of us (and I'm not one of them, either time) elected Cowboy Dubya as president. The BBC a say Fats Domino was rescued, but is still missing. My guess is that he's on Blueberry Hill. It's always a good idea to head for high ground when there's flooding. That sounds kind of strange. How could Fats Domino be rescued, but still missing? Wouldn’t he have contacted his family and friends or the media? Surely we would have heard reports of his whereabouts. [ BTW, I think that Fats Domino deserves his own thread. ] Regards, ff

His daughter Keren Domino White told CNN she had seen her father being helped off a rooftop in a newspaper photograph taken on Monday. But Ms White said she had not been able to contact her father since then. The musician's agent Al Embry had earlier said that nobody had seen Domino since he told people he was planning to "ride out" the storm at his low-lying home. Probably not the greatest plan I've ever heard.

Banshees Scream 110 Posted April 7, 2006 Fats "doesn't feel up" to 150 mile trip... Just lazy, or something to keep an eye on? He can't walk 150 miles. He would have a stroke or kneel down to a heart attack. He is just another one of those old heavy set jazz men. Real shame none were whiped out durning Hurricane Katrina. But we had none on the list so either way it doesn't matter to me.
Canadian Paul 97 Posted April 8, 2006 Fats "doesn't feel up" to 150 mile trip... Just lazy, or something to keep an eye on? I'd say lazy. If the man didn't move for Katrina, he's certainly not going to move for the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame.

Octopus of Odstock 2,197 Posted April 29, 2006 Fats to perform at Jazz Festival Yep, I'm convinced as well now. On his lazy-bed rather than on his death-bed.

Dylan looks surprisingly old in the photo, though admittedly I haven't seen a recent picture of him in quite sometime. Anyhow, as if you needed more conformation, I heard on the radio the other day that Fats will be playing a concert in San Diego as well. Looks like he's got a full schedule for himself. For a guy who is about 65 - I disagree with your comment of him looking old, Bob Dylan should have many years left within him. Like other ancient singers who seem anything but retired like Frankie Laine should be kept out of Deathlists spotlight for the time being.

maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted March 15, 2007 the thrilled singer said: "It don't take a lot to be happy." The above from the linked article. If there was any justice, or a fair contract at the right time, he wouldn't have needed the bung from the musicians' charity to repair his home.
Banshees Scream 110 Posted March 15, 2007 Him or BB King next year. But I just saw King on the Rock N Roll hall of fame the other night, he was playing with Eric Clapton who doesn't look like Eric Clapton anymore. You would think he is a wealthy business man who owns a bank or something.
