Brian suffered a heart attack as he joined a newspaper Christmas party at the Crown and Kettle pub in Manchester on Friday afternoon. The respected former Sunday Mirror reporter ran his own freelance agency, Cavendish Press, and had also worked on many other national papers over four decades.
