Lady Grendel 139 Posted October 16, 2005 Is that avatar Stan Boardman in a hat?? Hmmm.....yeah I hadn't noticed the resemblance until now, I think I'll need to find a better image of Frankie or find something else. Welcome Yerteasoot, nice to see another Glaswegian on board! Thanks, Lady Grendel. Nice handle, makes me want to dig through all my old albums and take a nostalgia trip back to the days of the Geezabun Chorus at the barras. I like the 'Halt your goats there' line Good to welcome another Freak to the forum All the best Freaks are here..................!
in eternum+ 22 Posted October 16, 2005 The a is a long vowel. Unfortunately English doesn't use that phoneme, but the "aaaargh" sound you make when you stub your toe comes very close. Both e's are schwa's. The g is indeed pronounced as in 'loch'. Scots should have no problem with rolling the r. Next lesson in this series: Dutch swearing in business and leasure. regards, Hein Hm... that's not what I say when I stub my toe... Welcome Yerteasoot! Gart 0 Posted October 17, 2005 Hello, I just registered and am looking forward to everyone's 'cryptic' comments. I am retired and live in Oakland, California. Would it be possible for the admistrator of this site to e-mail me separately. I would like to ask a few questions and not tie up the message board. Thanks and I look forward to getting some good tips. Best, Gart

Lady Grendel 139 Posted October 18, 2005 Dig through the old a Welcome Yerteasoot, nice to see another Glaswegian on board! Thanks, Lady Grendel. Nice handle, makes me want to dig through all my old albums and take a nostalgia trip back to the days of the Geezabun Chorus at the barras. I like the 'Halt your goats there' line The Barras!!!!! Best venue in Scotland, despite it's history, the first time I saw Marillion was in this venue (Dec '84)on the 'real to reel' tour, it was the last time he wore the make up and painted his face! I think Greggs must have sold out that day judging by the amount of 'buns' thrown . I have seen Alice Cooper many times, but the best was a greatest hits tour in 1997 at the 'Barras' what a gig, likewise 'Poison' (1993),, I have still to see AC/DC. as they always play the SECC, but if they ever choose to play there I will be first in line for a ticket.
