Windsor 2,233 Posted January 17, 2006 Does anyone have any tips on how to live a long life? It says here that exercise can help prevent Alzheimers. A local centenarian (now 105) put her long life down to drinking Lucozade. Most others put it down to a tipple of alcohol before going to bed including the late Queen Mother. However, the world longest married couple (70 years) put it down to not going to sleep on an arguement. The man died last year aged 105 and I believe that his wife is still alive at 101. The man died last year aged 105 and I believe that his wife is still alive at 101. unfortunately, neither of them slept in the last 69 11/12 years before he died, so maybe sleep deprivation is the key..... BrunoBrimley 86 Posted January 17, 2006 I have found that 2 packs of Winston Cigarettes daily and a few pints of alchohol have done wonders for me. To add to life lasting I eat a few hundred pounds of red meat annually, rarely eat salads and have 14 subscriptions to Desserts of the month club.......they deliver the most delicious desserts right to the door

Cerberus 302 Posted January 18, 2006 Does anyone have any tips on how to live a long life? It says here that exercise can help prevent Alzheimers. I always understood it was exercising the mind which was the key to warding off senile dementia. So doing a regular crossword or Sudoku would help, watching Big Brother for hours on end would certainly not.

Windsor 2,233 Posted January 20, 2006 The key to long life (according to Gunther from the Autopsy show) is: 1. A possitive outlook. 2. Around 30 minutes exercise 3 days a week. 3. A stable diet which keeps you healthily slim. 4. That you don't smoke. 5. You're likely to live long if someone in your family has lived in to their 90s and over. You are likely to live to 100 with those qualities he says. I fail on 1,2, half of 3 and 5.
