I was working in local radio at the time, and I think "Fairytale of New York" was played on every single show for about the next week!

Mind you, great song...

My first deathpool hit, Jenn died today last year. She would have put me in 1st place at the beginning of the year had she been granted an obit :P from the Brits. She got 4th place on Survivor back in '05. This is the picture I gave MiB to use for her on DDP. It was cut off, so you couldnt tell that she was making that face at the sundae she won at the "Survivor Auction" challenge in a later episode of the show. Her cancer was surely building up right there in that very scene. And she had no idea. :D

Today in 1894, famous Belgian1Adolphe Sax, inventor of the saxophone, died.

Adolphe_Sax.jpg

1Just to annoy my language brothers south of the border: strictly speaking was he a Dutchman, as, at his birth in 1814, what's now Belgium was part of the Sovereign Principality of the Netherlands, which would become the Kingdom in March 1815.

regards,

Hein

Right, I can't be bothered to overgoogle and either way not being Belgish I wouldn't be riled. However Namur was captured by the French (Napoleon?) just before 1800 and I believe before that it belonged to Austria (how?). Waterloo happened in 1815 which I guess is when Wellington and co booted the French out? Anyway Dinant, where M. Sax was born, is just south of Namur towards France so if I have my suspicions as to whether he was in fact French (or Austrian).
