Eddie Shack, one of the most colourful players in NHL history, having played over 1,000 games and assessed nearly 1,500 penalty minutes, has died. He was 83. Shack played for a half-dozen different teams from the late 1950s to the mid 1970s, including two stints with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the latter one having closed out his career.

Adam Comrie, a Canadian-born hockey player drafted by the Florida Panthers in 2008, whose professional career saw him play eight years in the minors before spending two seasons in Austria, carrying him through the 2019-20 campaign, has died. He was 30.

Jack Kelley, a member of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame, having been a former president of the Pittsburgh Penguins, head coach & general manager of the WHA's New England Whalers and two-time national title winner as Boston University coach, has died. He was 93.

Albert (Al) Langlois, a three-time Stanley Cup winner with the Montreal Canadiens who's nearly 500-game NHL career also included stops with the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins during a period from the mid-50s to the mid-60s, has died. He was 85.

Jim Neilson, who played over 1,000 games in the NHL from 1962 to 1978, the bulk with the New York Rangers, has died.  He was 78. Post-retirement, Neilson worked within Canada's Indigenous community, of whom he was a member.

Howie Meeker (wiki) dead a few days after turning 97.

Last surviving member of the Maple Leafs 1947–49 Stanley Cup teams.

Also served as a Progressive Conservative MP in the Canadian Parliament (1951–53).

Ken Schinkel, who played professional hockey for 20 years, from the early 1950s to the early 1970s, split between the minors and the NHL, where he played over 600 games combined for the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins, has died. He was 87.

Fred Sasakamoose, the first Canadian indigenous NHL player has died from COVID-19 at 86. He was hospitalised in recent days with the virus.
