SPORTSMAN'S DINNER Saturday, 7th April Due to unforeseen circumstances, Jim Leishman will be unavailable to speak at the Sportsman's Dinner on Saturday, 7th April. The Club are delighted to announce that we have secured a replacement speaker - the legendary Scottish goalkeeper, Alan Rough. ALAN ROUGH - Glasgow born goalkeeper who won over 50 caps and played in 2 World Cups for Scotland. His career started in 1969 with Patrick Thistle, a Club he remained at until 1982 before moving to Hibernian to enjoy further success as a Scottish League Cup Finalist in 1985. Roughie now co-presents the popular Peter and Roughie's football show. I'm sure this late substitute will have many great stories to keep us entertained on the night. Will it not be a culture shock to Fort faithful to be faced with a guy that's - like - won stuff by playing football?

FORT WILLIAM FC v COVE RANGERS FC Press & Journal Highland League Saturday, 31st March 2018 Claggan Park, Fort William 3pm kick-off If they'd played tomorrow it might have been hard to tell the result apart from an April Fool's joke. Don't have a good feeling about this; unbeaten Cove have dropped six points in 25 games so far with a goal difference of +86. In the same number of games Fort have two points and a goal difference of -115.

Yeah, and on current form 26 games played with a goal difference of -125 that's almost an average of a five goal defeat every time they've taken the field this season

maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted April 21, 2018 If this truly is the last season in the Highland League the Fort are fast running out of games. Today's 12-0 tanking leaves them (mathemically) capable of finishing second bottom but only if they win EVERY remaining fixture and overhaul a goal difference deficit of a few dozen goals whilst also relying on Strathspey to lose every remaining game. Bear in mind they've played over 30 games this season and won none of them. Go Fort, or summat.

They likely won't go out - they'll probably re-group around much lower ambitions and income (which is what most failed footy teams - Accrington, Maidstone, Hereford, Chester, Workington, Aldershot, Newport County - all do). So the trauma for us is doubled; 1 - we won't easily find their results on the BBC or in the papers/ 2 - They might go local and start winning (a fate that befell the reliably shite East Stirlingshire when they were finally expelled from the lowest national tier in Scotland).
