Jonray Sanchez-Iglesias, who ran Casamia in Bristol with his brother Peter, died on Friday following a four-year battle with skin cancer. I am French Canadian so I don't have a clue. However... I know that Star Trek wasn't a big thing in France and that originally, no major French TV channels acquired the rights for the show. Also a fun fact... Star Trek was never dubbed in France French. In fact, the only French dubbing of Star Trek was done in Quebec French. From what I read on another board recently, the French liked Space: 1999 more for its philosophical aspects and X-FIles for its supernatural side. They apparently also like fantasy like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings more than "pure sf" like Trek.
