He was on my long list for the DDP in 2023 but was relegated to Salvage Lot. I tend not to pick centenarians and he also was a QO risk.

According to this link, she was born on 13 April 1920.

I wonder how many others in the Pageantry book are still alive. At a quick glance, most seem to have amounted to nothing more than obscure beauty pageants and modelling jobs.

Alice Marchak who was Marlon Brando secretary's died back on May 14, 2024 at the age of 104 in Newport Beach, CA

Those 2 have been on my long list since 2008. Beyond a joke.

Norman Spencer came to our attention later. He's already the first person from British film/TV to reach 109. I hope he sees 110 in August.

Norman Spencer is due to turn 110 today. I don't expect any articles but I should be able to confirm his status as at the end of March when I visit the archives in a couple of weeks.

Don’t trouble yourself MO. If he died in the meantime, Oldest in Britain would pick it up. He’s well and truly on their radar now. Wasn’t a couple of years ago.

He wouldn't because I supply the deaths for that. OiB has no connection to him - him being listed is simply "not confirmed dead". I was the one who got him listed in the first place. If you want the truth, he was listed in our behind-the-scenes data as "Norman" from a care home post I found of a "106 year old Norman" then I happened to stumble upon Norman Spencer being mentioned on here and I made the connection.

There are a handful of people on OiB where we're 99% sure they've died since 2023, but without confirmation we can't mark them as such.

Chinese journalist and dissident Qian Liren turns 100. Permanently hospitalised and suffering from dementia.

His birthday is being celebrated by state run media, despite his role as a dissenter during Tienanmen protests, which got him sacked. Not the first time it happens with dissidents, I guess it's their way of saying "you were right" without explicitly admitting it.

An edit to the Wiki page of Elisabeth Waldo claims she died in May 2020, just shy of 102.

As a source it cites a YouTube video.

Can anyone help with this one?

I’m aware of that video from 2022, but I’m starting to think it’s an older video reposted. Other than the 2022 video there’s nothing other than a bunch of random people online wishing her happy birthday each year and morons commenting on posts “No, she’s still alive!! Cos Google/Wiki says sooooo”.

Do we have another James C. Floyd situation on our hands?

I can only say that the Wikipedia article I created for him back in 2020, with the express purpose of getting him noticed (not just for his longevity but career also) seems to have done the trick. There were only bits and bobs about him online and in print, and nothing at all since he turned 100, so I wanted to put them all in one place as a reference point and indeed to get him on the radar. If indeed Mr Spencer did reach 110 last week then we can only summarise that the lack of official publicity is due to him and his family wishing to keep a low profile.

AVRO Museum edited their post, which now states "it is not known if Floyd is still alive or not". More confusion out of nowhere.

Last week, someone edited Floyd's wiki to state he died on January 9, 2021 at the age of 106. @Ulitzer95 took it down rightly because the edit was unsourced. Just in case some of our senior online researchers missed the information and could use it in finding a death date for Floyd.

The GRG confirm her death and give a date of death of 16th April 2024.

Who piggybacked on my discovery. They got that information as a result of me. @Ulitzer95 will testify that I informed him of this privately way before the ESO updated this, I was just waiting for OiB to recognise it before I mentioned the death.
