Butler Martin, a WW2 veteran who like Eaglin was among the first Black Marines, has died on 27 September aged 101.

The article tells us that, at the end of 2023, there were 300 Black Marines www2 veterans who are still alive.

This other article written in March 2014, however, says there 400 survivors out of 20.000.

Mary Katz, who had been among the ten oldest Canadians currently alive, has died. She was 109.
