Sir Creep 7,070 Posted November 8, 2017 A talented winemaker who also co-founded Patricia Green Cellars in 2000 after seven years as head winemaker at Torii Mor, Green was found dead at her cabin retreat near Roseburg, Oregon on Monday this week (6 November). She was 62. Her business and winemaking partner, Jim Anderson, told Wine Spectator that the “apparent cause” of her death was a fall but he knew nothing more at that moment. Winemaker dies of a fall at the house....Any guess as to why she fell? SC

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted May 2, 2018 Napa Valley’s Arrowhead Vineyard, where a worker who had been attempting to free some wire caught in the tilling tines had the tiller attachment fall on him and crush him to death. Sir Creep 7,070 Posted May 13, 2018 Oh you'll have to sue me in DL court. I know this person is a brewer of beer, but this thread seems appropriate. File the court documents.... Seems like Rob Pfeiffer of Pfeiffer beer fame (apparently part of Blue Earl Brewing Company now, where Rob is head brewer?) has Lyme disease. But more importantly he fought Stage 4 melanoma in 2002 — cancer that had spread to internal organs. He underwent chemotherapy and came out of it 'cancer-free'. Yeah it's been a while, but the foundation is laid. SC

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted September 8, 2018 James Brandeberry, who served as dean of Wright State University’s College of Engineering for nearly two decades before founding his own winery, died Friday at his home near Enon. He was 78. Brandeberry joined Wright State’s engineering faculty as an assistant professor in 1969. He helped launch the university's computer science department, became its chairman, left to work in the private sector, returned a year later and was named the founding dean of WSU’s college of engineering in 1986. In his non-academic time, Brandeberry’s passion was making wine. He was an avid home winemaker during the last decade of his tenure at WSU, earning scores of medals and awards in home-winemaking competitions. The recognition of his winemaking skills continued well after he founded his winery. His Brandeberry Winery Blackberry wine won “Best Fruit Wine” designation in the 2013 and 2017 Ohio Wine Competitions, and his “Black Dog” blend was named best fruit wine in the same competition in 2015. Death Impends 8,005 Posted January 5, 2019 While doing some checkup on Gerard Basset just now, I'd discovered his wife runs a blog about a cafe she currently runs. It includes the occasional update on Gerard, and this latest one from two days ago doesn't suggest long... Losing my mum to cancer in early December and having spent every day with Gerard in hospital since 17th December, whilst he slowly becomes more and more frail and weakens as he succumbs to the terrible demands of cancer have been heartbreaking to witness, but just as my incredible team at Spot have kept me going, so too have the army of amazing doctors, nurses and admin teams, including the housekeeping and catering teams and lovely Roy, the car parking chap, here at the hospital.
