Yorkshire-born American oncologist who founded Ronald McDonald House Charities in Philadelphia, in 1974. Even if the name is not familiar, everyone will recognise the logo (unless you've literally never been inside a McDonald's!). Pappajohn, along with his wife, Mary, were well known for their namesake — the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park in Des Moines. She died in March of 2022.
