quick question while I'm here : how do you choose the order of your list ? Do you put the most famous people in the top spots or your rank them by likelihood to die ?

I list them by chronological birth date order.

Personally, I go with likelihood of dying.

I believe  they rank 1-50 with the likelihood of them dying.

@livingbygrace thanks for your kind comment. I did loads of editing too before deciding on this final draft. It's good though imho to have plenty to choose from than not enough. Good luck though on your final selections but you will do fab I'm sure.

Hopefully.. I guess I feel I have a good possibility that  2025 can only go up from 2024 considering I only got 8 hits this past year.

I have only been around here for a few years, so I can't be sure of this. Some of the older members may be able to confirm.

I think the "committee" meets up in a pub on December 31st, and drunkenly scrawls down names on whatever they can find. At approximately 11.30pm they pick 50 of them, ranking them on how legible the names are on the beer-mats..

My 2024 Shadow list was a little bit of a letdown with just 11 deaths, still well short of my 2020 record of 24. Plenty of new blood for 2025 might be able to give my Shadow list a much needed boost.

I really like your list @The Daredevil but personally I would drop Patricia Routledge as she seems in too good health for 2025.

Good idea; Rex Williams will hence bounce up to her position, and Ted Turner will be added as the new no. 38.

Or Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a possibility? Ian Smith (Harold Bishop in Neighbours)?

Ian Smith should not be famous enough for list in my mind (although will get BBC obit for sure). Khamenei definitely famous enough but I can see him going into 2026. Clint Eastwood and Brigitte Bardot were two last minute take aways.

I like your inclusion of Chris Rea as a number 50

Yes, nobody ever hears anything about him nowadays, and that plus his unfortunate health history...

Rea also reminds me of Johnny Hallyday (died at 74!)

I have a few people that are on my list that I am still debating on. They seem to be wasted picks because they do not seem to be in any real danger, except for their age.  But a part of me does not want to take the chance of having them as a miss because they are people that are kind of  iconic for me. At the same time I think to keep them on am I missing out on others that might be more of a sure hit for the year.Mainly..

Marion Ross 96

Tina Louise 90

Julie Andrews 89

Barbra Eden 93

I think in the end I am just going to keep them.. But if the Pope, Frankie Vallie  or Rupert Murdock dies this year I am going to kick myself :P
