Played Evillene in The Wiz for some years. Also in Sesame Street

June Walker Rogers, a Broadway performer, playwright and author who worked with the likes of Dick Van Dyke, Hal Linden and Tony Bennett, died July 8th. She was 97. Her death was being reported on August 3rd.

Gavin Creel has died aged 48. An accomplished stage actor who appeared in Broadway and West End productions of Thoroughly Modern MillieHair, Waitress and Hello, Dolly!. He won an Olivier award for originating the role of Elder Price in The Book of Mormon on the West End, and a Tony award for Hello, Dolly!

This is nuts. Seen him on stage. He's huge in that world.

Only diagnosed with cancer in July. Very sad.

Very sad news. 

 

And quite unlucky that they hasn’t been many Americans who have come from over the USA and been musicial leading men but two of those who have both died young - Chris Peluso and now Gavin Creel.  Both took over roles at the Prince Edward Theatre,

Kicking myself I never saw him on tour with Book of Mormon. Terrible news.

Mimi Hines (wiki), Canadian actress and singer who succeeded Barbra Streisand on stage in "Funny Girl", dead at 91.

Also widow of American vaudeville star Phil Ford (wiki, 1919–2005).
