However, it wasn't unheard of for information to be recorded wrongly in the death index during this period – I found loads of this when I was doing my own family tree, and also British musicians. Probably worth ordering the certificates (the birth certificate from Scotland's People and the death certificate from the GRO) to see if there are matches (e.g. birthplace, parents names etc). That will give the answer. That's all of 1926 now done. 1

Ulitzer95 12,655 Posted April 21, 2021 @Octopus of Odstock michael is right about Horne. Living in Brixworth, Northampton up to 2013 as Alfred T Horne. Which makes the death index ever more puzzling as that record was almost an exact match. Worth noting that as of 2016, a different person was living at the property in Brixworth. So died? Moved address / to a care home?

Ulitzer95 12,655 Posted April 22, 2021 @Octopus of Odstock George Davies This family tree suggests he died in Cape Town, South Africa. Doesn't state when annoyingly. You can request death certificates from the SA Gov site so maybe Michael could work with this? ------------------------ John Brooks Nice and easy: Name: Mr John Brooks Gender: Male Age: 91 Birth Date: 8 Mar 1927 Last Residence: Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire, England Postal Code District: ST7 Death Date: 9 Jul 2018
Ulitzer95 12,655 Posted April 22, 2021 @Octopus of Odstock Christopher Leonard b. Christopher Leonard 11 Jul 1927 Jarrow, EN (Hugman's) Family tree: Christopher Leonard b. 1927 Jarrow d. 1987 father: William Leonard mother: Elizabeth Cartwright Now he was the only Christopher Leonard born in that entire region in 1927 so must be him. Problem is where? Definitely did not die in the UK... and I extended the search on FreeBMD to 1985–1989 in case the authors of the tree recalled the year wrongly... which happens (like in David D Gray's case). Anyway, I believe this is him, but best of luck finding more. It's a game of "where in the world". ------------------------------------- Gordon Revel Still alive – address is in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire as of 2021. ------------------------------------ Robert Williams Can't find his fate but Hugman's should correct his birth name. Definitely Robert Raymond Williams, not Raymond Robert Williams. Will help with finding him further down the line. ------------------------------------ Thomas McGairy Dead. Ulitzer95 12,655 Posted April 24, 2021 @Octopus of Odstock Willie O'Brien Based on the fact that there was only one William O'Brien born in Middlesbrough in 1929, this must be him: William O'Brien b. 1929 Middlesbrough to William O'Brien & Rosalie McGouran m. Joyce H. Newell d. 2015 (aged 86) Doesn't say where he died. However, there are clues: 1) In July 1952, he's listed as a passenger on the steam ship destined for New York from Southampton. This is one year after his professional football career ceased. He's listed as a boiler maker. 2) His wife's family all died in Ontario, Canada and appear to have links to Quebec too. --------------------- Ken McDevitt Living in Blackpool in 2010. No sign of a death since so assume he's still there somewhere. -------------------- Louis Bimpson Alive. Based in Ormskrik, Lancashire as of 2020. -------------------- John Cook Living in Bristol in 2010. Can't find a death since so I assume still alive. -------------------- Keith Thomas Living in Shrewsbury, Shropshire as of 2021. -------------------- Bernard Shaw The family trees are all over the place for this individual so I'm not going to copy and paste what will be an entanglement of false leads, but his own family note he died in Spain. Doesn't say when. -------------------- Roy Evans b. Bernard Royden Evans b. Rotherhithe, Surrey (Hugman's). This could possibly be him. Just says Bernard Evans b. 1929 in Bermondsey, Surrey d. 2016. Doesn't give dates or say where he died, but the GRO confirms it wasn't in England/Wales. Given that there was only one Bernard Evans born in Surrey in 1929, could be him but that's assuming this bland family tree got the year of birth correct for the individual they're referring to. ---------------- Ray Ratcliffe Alive. Still based in St. Helens, Merseyside in 2021. ---------------- John Clowes Still living in Staffordshire in 2010 – Uttoxeter to be precise. Can't find a trace of any subsequent death so assume still living. ---------------- Jimmy Forrest b. James Forrest 14 Nov 1929 Dalkeith, Midlothian (Hugman's) There was a James Forrest born 1927–1929 living in Dalkeith in 2008. There is also a death record for a James Stewart Forrest [note – no middle name on Hugman's so could be a different person?] in 2008 in Midlothian. Could this be him? You'd have to order the certificate to be sure. ---------------- Frank Varney Living in Oxford as of 2005. Can't find a record of death since so assume still living. ---------------- George Price Updated on the Hugman's website since your post to say he died in 1982. Their info: b. George Price 2 Dec 1929 Crewe, England d. Feb 1982 North Carolina, USA I disagree. The individual they're referring to is likely this man: George Curtis Price b. 2 Dec 1929 North Carolina, USA d. Feb 1982 Florida, USA Not the footballer. Another family tree gives us our guy: George Price b. Dec 1929 Crewe/Nantwich, EN Suggests he died in Cheshire at some point. I can't find his death record in the GRO for some reason. This one will merit some more attention. According to that tree, his wife was Joan Elizabeth Bamford b. 6 May 1928 Nantwich, died Jul–Sep 2004 in Cheshire somewhere. ----------------- Johnny Moffatt Not sure. I can tell you where he's definitely NOT – Scotland. There are several John B. Moffatt's in England. One who emigrated to New Brunswick, and a few in the U.S including Vermont. I'm leaning towards alive but who knows. ---------------- That's me done. There was a lot of possible matches on 192 but I didn't post them as they were too sketchy – individuals without middle names or with relatively common names are hard to track down on there, but on the bright side it will mean a few others will be living from the table.
Octopus of Odstock 2,203 Posted April 24, 2021 @Ulitzer95, thank you so, so much for this. I always thought I was pretty good at researching, but you have put me to shame. This is such a help. I appreciate it greatly. Now other people can utilise your skills on this topic. George Price - alive in 2017 - https://www.winsfordguardian.co.uk/news/15561666.care-home-residents-make-memory-tree-improve-wellbeing/ which is why Hugman is wrong. I suspect he might have died in 2020 as one of the many care home casualties, but we'll have to see when the GRO comes out. Definitely wasn't in 2018 or 2019 GRO. I'll cross-reference all this into the old footy players thread for Michael F.

Ulitzer95 12,655 Posted April 27, 2021 On 15/03/2021 at 22:44, Ulitzer95 said: 1925: 1) Arlene Dahl (IMDb) actress – One of the few big names from the Hollywood Golden era still alive. Hasn't acted since 1999 but still making appearances as recently as 2018 and returning fan mail as of April 2021. 2) Angela Lansbury (IMDb) actress – British-American Golden era actress, but will always be best known for Murder She Wrote and Beauty and the Beast. Still acting in recent years but recently stopped signing fan mail. 3) Dick Van Dyke (IMDb) actor – Beloved star known for his appearances in Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Night at the Museum. Still acting and returning fan mail as of March 2021. 4) Lee Grant (IMDb) actress – Oscar-winner and yet nobody is quite sure when she was born. The records say both 1925 and 1926, and there are other years flying about elsewhere online. 1925 is probably the best bet given that's what is recorded in the official birth index for New York. Still doing voice work in 2020, still appearing in documentaries more recently, and returning fan mail as of April 2021. 5) June Lockhart (IMDb) actress – Golden-era star. Still doing voice work in 2019. Still signing fan mail as of March 2021. 6) Peggy Webber (IMDb) actress – American. Last credit was 2005 but appeared in a 2014 documentary. Still signing fan mail in February 2021. 7) Cara Williams (IMDb) actress – 1925 is a strong year for Golden-era stars. Hasn't acted since 1982 but made an appearance as recent as 2017 and signing fan mail as of 2020. 8) Brigitte Auber (IMDb) actress – French. Last role was in 2019 but still signing fan mail as of March 2021. 9) David Graham (IMDb) actor – British. Known for his voice work in Thunderbirds, Stinray, Doctor Who, and more recently Peppa Pig. Still working in 2020 and still signing fan mail in February 2021. 10) Bill Hayes (IMDb) actor and singer – American. One of the last few surviving artists to have had a top 10 solo hit in the UK in the 1950s. Also known for appearing in U.S. TV soap Days of Our Lives, since 1970 (still making odd appearances in this role, usually for holiday specials). 11) Robert Fyfe (IMDb) actor – British actor best known for playing Howard on Last of the Summer Wine and Malcolm Lagg on Coronation Street. Last role was in 2017. At various times rumoured to be ill. Also suggested by a Wiki editor claiming to be his son that he was actually born some years after 1925. 12) Patricia Michon (IMDb) actress – American. Last role was in 1983. Appears to be alive as somebody in the autograph community suggested a 2018 address for her (now living as Patricia Unertl) in Wisconsin. Birth Index gives a DOB of Sep 4, 1924 in Los Angeles, California as Patricia J. Conzelman. The Patricia Unertl in Wisconsin exists according to the records. Problem is she's 89, not 96 so doesn't match. Who knows. 13) Perry Blackwell (IMDb) actress and singer – Early African-American supporting actress best known for her role in Pillow Talk. As of Jan 2021, living in Arizona with her daughter. 14) Miiko Taka (IMDb) actress – American star of Japanese descent. Living in Bremerton, Washington as of 2021 (as Betty Blondheim), 15) Morris Perry (IMDb) actor – English, known for his roles in Doctor Who, The Hound of the Baskervilles etc. Appeared in Not Going Out in 2011 as Stan. Last appeared in a 2019 documentary. 17) Ignacio López Tarso (IMDb) actor – Considered to be one of the last survivors of Mexico's Golden Age of cinema. Still very active and currently filming new roles. 18) Michel Bouquet (IMDb) actor – French. Last role was in early 2020. During this period, he returned a piece of fan mail with his secretary noting a long-term illness. 19) Lenka Peterson (IMDb) actress – American. Last acting role was in 2006. Her son predeceased her in 2015. No recent news of her but definitely still alive. 20) Virginia Patton (IMDb) actress – American. Last role was in 1949(!) but hasn't fallen off radar since. Lives in Michigan as Virginia Patton Moss as of 2021. Her husband predeceased her in 2018. 21) Barbra Fuller (IMDb) actress – American. Last role was in 1973 but she appeared in a 1994 documentary. Since I originally compiled this list, IMDb have changed her year of birth to 1921, and I believe they were correct to do so. The records on Ancestry suggest she'll become a centenarian in July. Lives in Sherman Oaks, California as of 2020. 22) Thelma Ruby (IMDb) actress – British character actress who has appeared in Coronation Street, Doctors, Z-Cars etc. Last role was in 2019, during which point she was still answering fan mail. 23) Mikis Theodorakis (IMDb) composer – Legendary Greek composer who has been in and out of hospital like a yo-yo for years, mainly because of heart problems. Still working on projects though... 24) Mildred Kornman (IMDb) actress – One of just three surviving silent film actors. In 2017, her son responded to an autographic hunter saying she was very ill. In Feb 2020, he responded to another saying she could no longer sign anything and had no memory of her time in the film industry. 25) Madgel Dean (IMDb) actress – American. Last role was in Cheers in 1986. Living in Encino, California as of 2021 as Madgel Friedman. 26) Kerima (IMDb) actress – A mysterious one indeed. Promotional material says she was Algerian, but she was from France. Married to Bond director Guy Hamilton. His Telegraph obituary from 2016 originally stated that she survived him. It was later amended to say that she predeceased him. They lived in Majorca together, so to get a definite answer someone will likely have to get in touch with the registry there. 27) Barbara Bushman (IMDb) wife – I wouldn't even describe her as an actress because she had one uncredited role in a 1932 film. Married to actor Harry Morgan until his death in 2011. Still living in Los Angeles, California as Barbara B. Quine Morgan in 2021. 28) Rosita Quintana (IMDb) actress – Another survivor of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Last role was in 2005. Received an award in 2016. Quiet as of late... 29) Pat Clark (IMDb) actress and model – bit part player in the Golden era of Hollywood from 1945 to 1948 in mostly forgettable roles. Born in 1925 in New York as Patricia Cecilia Clark. Her wider IMDb bio suggests she's dead and this article confirms it but doesn't say when or where. Can't trace her sadly. 30) Selma Archerd (IMDb) actress – American. Known for her roles in films such as Lethal Weapon and Die Hard. Last role was in 2000. Married to Variety columnist Army Archerd until his death in 2009. Living in Los Angeles, California in 2021. 31) Eugenio Martín (IMDb) director and screenwriter – Prolific Spanish filmmaker. Appeared in a 2020 TV special. 34) Leo De Lyon (IMDb) actor – Best known for voicing the roles of Spook and Brain in Top Cat! Some sources say born 1926, but IMDb is correct according to the records. Retired from the industry in 2011. In early 2020 his son was returning fan mail saying that he could no longer respond himself. Make of that as you will... 35) Joyce Reynolds (IMDb) actress – Appeared in movies during Hollywood's Golden era. Other sources say born 1924. Last appeared in a title in 1951! Last signing fan mail in 2019. 36) Dan Jackson (IMDb) actor – Guyanese-born British. A long list of credits from 1952 to 1990 – one which stands out is the Fillet of Soul waiter in Live and Let Die. Bio details seem sketchy. Very possible he's still about though. 37) Dennis Lotis (IMDb) actor and singer – South African-born British who started his career in the Ted Heath Band. Appeared in a 2014 documentary, returned a few items signed to autograph hunters in 2015. 38) Noel De Souza (IMDb) actor – Indian-born American with a long list of credits from 1955 to 2015 (an appearance in The Big Bang Theory being the last). 39) Carla Balenda (IMDb) actress – American. Last role was in Doctor Who in 2017. 43) Barbara Long (IMDb) set designer – American. One credit – the 1972 film "George!" God knows why she's in the top 500 most visited profiles for this year? Anyway, she died on Apr 1, 2009 (aged 83) in Leesburg, Virginia according to Ancestry. 44) Hubert Frank (IMDb) director and screenwriter – Czech. Known for his sex films of the 70s, last credit was in 1987 but appeared in a 2010 documentary. That was over a decade ago so could have died off radar I suppose. 45) Betty Wells (IMDb) actress – An obscure 20th Century Fox starlet with seven roles between 1942 and 1944. Born Elizabeth Jean Culwell, and died on Mar 9, 1977 (aged 51) according to Ancestry. 46) Joe Hale (IMDb) visual effects artist and animator – American. Received an Oscar nomination for The Black Hole (1979). Last credit was in 1987 but appeared in a 2018 documentary. 1925 now up on Page 11. A few things of note: Betty Wells, Barbara Long, James Garbutt and Pat Clark are dead, though I can't find when Clark died. Hubert Frank and Dan Jackson are in limbo but I lean towards still alive. Kerima is likely dead. No idea about Michon. Already mentioned earlier in the Hollywood Possibilities thread that Lansbury stopped signing recently and that Michel Bouquet is pretty ill. Two more... Mildred Kornman sounds to be very ill. Leo De Lyon sounds like he may be shuffling off soon as well. (see notes above) All in all, a decent year to look at for some possibilities/new names. Many more are still alive than the previous ones I've done, but a few sound to be just hanging in there by a thread.

Fairly certain that Dan Jackson emigrated to the United States, was naturalized in Florida and died there in Miami on 18 Nov 2004. Born 2 Dec 1925 in Georgetown, Guyana. There is an Ancestry family tree for this person posted by a granddaughter that includes a photo of that actor, so assuming it is the right person.

Tempted to send you hunting for family mysteries at this rate. (Although not so keen on the news that everyones TV granny might have age catching up with her, but tempus fugit. The Doctor Who Guide and the social media post from his son are strong enough. The only source I give them that they're a bit hesitant on tends to be Ancestry family trees, which is fair enough to be honest.

Mainly appeared on television, and frequently in western-themed shows. I don't believe the 19 Oct 1926 DOB on IMDb is correct because I can't locate a matching record. Google seems to think this actor was born in 1915 and died in 1965, but that's a mixup with a journalist who was called Robert Ruark (1915–1965). There is a Robert Bruce Roark who is 94 and living in Lake Worth, Florida. Could be him I guess. 65) Louis Massad (IMDb) actor – American. Roles between 1959 and 1973 (mainly in television). Died on Dec 7, 1986 (aged 60) in New London, Connecticut according to the official records. FindAGrave page here also. 66) Margaret Barton (IMDb) actress – British. Lives in Gulf Breeze, Florida as of 2021 as Bambi Linn DeJesus. 68) Sergio Garrone (IMDb) director and screenwriter – Italian. Since I originally drew up this list, IMDb have amended his year of birth to 1925, which is in line with other sources. Last credit was in 1984 but appeared in a 2019 documentary. 69) Bobbie Wygant (IMDb) presenter – American. Legendary entertainment reporter and host, who was still working in 2019 as she celebrated 70 years in the business. 70) George Pappas (IMDb) producer – American. Credits from 1973 to 2018, which include the Burt Reynolds film Heat. Living in Pomona, California as of 2021, but IMDb have his DOB wrong. It's March 15, 1926, not May 13, 1926. Finished looking through the top 500 profiles for "1926 births" on IMDb, and thus completed this project as I only set out to do 95+. A few things of note: *Just one death uncovered – Louis Massad in 1986. *Three in limbo: – Roark is an odd one. He could still be living. – No trace of Glover whatsoever. Wouldn't know where to start – Maranne I've also stuck in gold right now because I'm still not convinced that edit on Wiki the other week was a hoax. *Incredibly 66/70 are still with us! *Some health highlights: – Irene Papas has had Alzheimer's for 8 years now. She can't last much long. – Betty Lynn a bit more quiet recently. Obese for years, never looked a picture of health. – Val Bisoglio, Terry Kilburn and Jane Withers all looking their age now and have largely retreated from public life. – Tony Bennett we know about – diagnosed with Alzheimer's last year but we're told the disease is progressing slowly, so still performing. Could last a few years yet. – Carleton Carpenter, Armando Silvestre, Gene Shalit more names who have gone quiet... – Eugene Iglesias recovered from COVID-19 last year. Still, that would have given him a kicking. – Cher's mother Georgia Holt was very active up until 2014. Last photographed in 2016. Reportedly in ill health in 2019. Doesn't sound like she'll be around for long.

Los Angeles/Hollywood newspaper clippings state he was "from the East", a "medical student from Chicago", and a member of the 11th Airborne Division in WWII, but I haven't been able to find anything with those clues yet. I'm wondering if "Roark" was a stage name. The 1926 DOB comes from the US Public Records Index under a Robert R Roark living in Beverly Hills to the 1990s, but no connection to that person being an actor, and I haven't yet been able to track that person's origins.

Yes, I did spend a silly amount of time trying to solve this one with no luck. It's a pity IMDb don't cite sources. They would help both themselves (i.e. Wiki may see them as a credible source) and others (in uncovering further information) if they did! Any chance, if you have some time, you could look over some of the names in gold on some of the earlier years I did on page 11? Good to have a fresh pair of eyes look over these things incase I've missed something.

Good to have a fresh pair of eyes look over these things incase I've missed something. Sure, I can take a look when I get some time! Usually I've found that in cases like this where there just seems to be nothing out there, some part of the existing info (full name, DOB, birthplace, etc) is off. I'd put a decent wager on Roark's birth name probably being something else, hence the difficulty in tracking him down thus far. The military clue should have helped, but I suppose it could have been inaccurate or he that served under another name. There seems to be some trivia/info out there that he got one of his film roles in 1954 from as his father (apparently a doctor in LA) was a financier of the production, which might have some credibility with that other clue that Robert was a medical student at a time, but again, nothing from that yet. I'd speculate that someone searched his name on Ancestry and just pulled the DOB off that public record listing for IMDB without verifying that it was for the correct person. It could still be correct however, but this is a tough one to find anything definitive, at least yet. Also looked at Michon earlier, and she is another tough one, but it does appear she probably was most recently known by her mother's surname, Unertl. Apparently she was raised by her grandparents, and her mother (also an actress) was married multiple times, one of them being to a Mr. Michon. Unclear whether Patricia would have any living descendants. As for Cate Bauer, Wiki now has that one pretty well sorted out. Public records list her as most recently living in Seattle, with the 1929 DOB.

He's definitely not resident there now though. Jack L Rader of Westminster, California was born May 1931 as per Ancestry. Doesn't give a state of birth though. Can't see anything else of note about him or his wife. Could be him I suppose, but it would mean IMDb are way off with the DOB. Jack Lewis Rader born 2 Jan 1937 as per Ancestry. Doubt this is him. The chap in the Star Wars Holiday Special is definitely older than this. That's all I got. Some early returns on Jack Rader. It definitely seems that the 1921 DOB is wrong, per his article I uncovered in the Alliance (Nebraska) Times-Herald, his hometown newspaper, Jan 3, 1981. It identifies him as the son of Peary Rader of that same city (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peary_Rader), and a search of Peary's name turns up a link to his fonds, listing Jack as being born in 1939: http://legacy.lib.utexas.edu/taro/utlsc/00026/00026-P.html. There are also some earlier newspaper hits which associate him with TCU (Texas), which also matches up with where he was married in 1961 to Sandra Lee Duncan. Some of same IMDB credits are also listed in the article. Census records on Ancestry seem to suggest however that 1937 is likely the correct YOB (despite the 1939 listed above), so I think the Jack Lewis Rader you found is probably the correct person. Also attached is his high school yearbook photo.

One lives in Lancaster, California (likely him) and the other two in Kentucky and Tennessee. Probably safe to assume the Cali one is him?
