Political Frailty

Recommended Posts

Florida Rep. Carlos Curbelo has been diagnosed with whooping cough, a rare and contagious disease that is officially known as pertussis.

The freshman Republican has been ill for several weeks with the disease, which still sickens thousands each year. He was diagnosed on Monday.

Curbelo, 35, was vaccinated as a child, his office says, but did not received recommended booster shots as an adult.

So when it was a decision out of his control he was protected, but as a free thinking adult he was an anti-vax faggot. WHOOP THERE IT IS!

Tyler Drumheller, the author of the Benghazi memos, which might or might not shed light on whether Hillary Clinton is somehow to blame for the death of 4 people in the US Embassy in Benghazi, has died of cancer, at least, that's what Hillary would say:

Emerson is a Republican who represented Missouri's 8th congressional district before resigning shortly after winning re-election in 2012.

Some of these went on to have ministerial careers such as Richard Caborn and other are already on the radar like Ian Paisley but assembling a DDP team from this lot would be a leap of faith as many will be tocuh and go for an Obit. However if you have spies in the local press then this could be a good source of information.

The 1979 elections were held on the First past the post principal with constituencys being roughly approximated to counties it is only in later elections that we get the regional approach and a move to the D'Hondt system.

Since I published this list Paisley has died and now Frederick Catherwood has gone.

And another one Beata Brookes has died

Feminist campaigner Denise Marshall , who announced last year that she was suffering from terminal stomach cancer, has resigned as a Labour councillor due to ill health, stepped down as Chief Executive of the Eaves Charity and stopped tweeting.

Denise Marshall has died according to some recent tweets. Although she was on my DDP team, it's sad to see her go, as from what I understand about her, she was a highly regarded and very principled campaigner, who made a real difference to the lives of many people who have experienced domestic violence. :rip:

Soviet dissident Vladimir Bukovsky is somewhere in this thread and here is an update:

http://www.theguardian.com/law/2015/aug/24/soviet-dissident-sues-crown-prosecution-service-alleging-libel

He sues the crown prosecution service for libel (child pornography). He returned to his home last week after spending four months in a german hospital after major heart surgery. He's also a prominent opponent of Vladimir Putin, having run against him in 2008 and being involved in the Litvinenko trial.

Long-serving Aberdeenshire councillor Joanna Strathdee dies of cancer:

Only now I'm beginning to realize the usefulness of the BBC pages. I used to regularly check 'only' the Guardian, the Daily Mail and the Daily Mirror. I didn't realize that the BBC site actually has tons of content.

we have to make sure Richard Body is on the list when he dies for obvious reasons..

You've missed off Nicholas Budgen who has also died many years back so I think Mrs Gorman is the third to go. Sir Teddy Taylor is definitely one to keep an eye on.

As an aside, it does strike me that female British former MPs don't have a great record of living to very old age. Having said this I think the oldest current one is Dame Jill Knight who might last a while longer yet.

Of the Maastricht rebels there's also Michael Carttiss (still alive aged 77) and Rupert Allason aka Nigel West (still alive aged 63). Allason's old man who was also a former MP lived to be nearly 100 so he may not be the best pick.
