James Brown

Recommended Posts

Re the 17 nr 1 hits and the rest

ALL of the Beatles - even the dead ones - could lay claim to much more than the above. Their no.1 hits run into hundreds when you take every national chart into account, ditto the chart entries.

Brown's 170 albums include many sub-standard apologies unofficially released. There are loads of big name artists similarly afflicted with bootleg problems.

Brown's a living legend, mind, just putting the record a bit straighter all round.

you motherfuckers out there

have no respect to the godfather of soul

there is no other artist in the world who has achieved

the things that he did

he is 73 years old now and still doing the road

1. 17 nr1 hits

2. 198 chart entries

3. about 170 albums

can your f***kers tell which other artist has achieved that

i know mr brown is not perfect, but he is also a human being who makes mistakes

how come "motherfuckers" makes it through the swear filter, while "f***kers" does not? And does putting a word in quotes make any difference?

I posted a link on the things to do thread yesterday to Urban Dictionary. The point I'd like to make here is that Blumpkin, Cleveland Steamer and many other happily gross expressions make it through the swear filter too.

News just in on the BBC about the Godfather of Soul ...

The question is, is this a Christmas Day death a la Charlie Chaplin? Not sure how long ago it happened, or what time difference applies.

Seems like the 'hardest working man in showbusiness' never got to retire.

You were first Schism (just). Someone'll merge 'em. Don't know if mods work on Xmas Day though.

It's true, and you can read more here

Wasn't it prostate cancer that did for Bob Monkhouse?

Bob Monkhouse is DEAD?! I didn't know that! :P

Apparently James Brown is now too.

There is a article on the BBC news site about it with a picture from 1992 and he looks old as hell even in that! B)

Loads of great celebrities have been dropping off like flys over the last few weeks (must be the winter) it SUCKS!

Indeed - very sad news. It was such a shock. When I heard the news I could have cried. First Charlie Drake, now James Brown.

I predict a major slide for my team on the DDP scoreboard. :(
