Lafaucheuse 4,041 Posted November 7, 2021 New Game Make a list of 20 names who could die between 30 November 2021 and 30 November 2022. The one winning is the one with the most hits at the end of the year. Every time a pick of your list dies, you have to choose another one instead and so on till the end of the game in November 2022. You can choose similar celebrities as other participants. The only criteria for their admission is a qualifying obit when they pass : a qualifying obit means an article in English or in French. You can choose whoever you want as long as they're famous enough (which means they have articles about their action available online, wikipedias article about them, acknowledgment in their field…) Extra points : • + 50 points if all your picks have been renewed in a single months • + 20 points if all your original list has been renewed before the end of the year (meaning that all your 20 first picks are dead) • - 20 points if you're finishing the year with only one of your original list standing • + 5 points if you have to renew two picks on the same day • + 10 points if you have to renew three picks on the same day • + 5 points if you have a unique pick • + 10 points if you have a hit on the 1st of December 2021 when the competition begins • - 10 points if you have a hit on the 30th of November 2022 when the competition ends • + 5 points if you have a hit on the 17th of November or on the 25th or 31th of December • - 1 points if you haven't got a hit in a month, -2 in two months and so on… • + 10 if your pick dies the day you choose him/her • - 5 if you pick dies the following day after you had chosen him/her • +5 if your hit is the first of the pool • -5 if your hit is the last of the pool • -5 if your hit occurred before the opening of the pool (1st of December 2021) but was reported dead after the 1st of December 2021 • +5 if your hit occurred before the closing of the pool (30th of novembre 2022) but was reported dead after the 30th of November 2022 • +2 for the first hit of the year (2022) • + 2 if your first pick dies • + 4 if you have 2 first picks dying following each other ; +8 if you have 3 first picks dying following each other and so on till another hit breaks the striking circle • +5 if your last pick is the first to die on your team • -5 if your fist pick is the last to die on your team • +2 for 2 deaths in 2 days, + 4 for 3 deaths in 3 days + 8 for 4 deaths in 4 days and so on… • +10 at the end of the pool for both the one with the most hits and the one with the least hits • +5 for the 50th death of the pool • +10 for the 100th death of the pool Entries are now opened in posting your list in this thread. The competition will begin in the first of December. Every time you have a hit, just quote your previous list with your new pick and please, CROSS the hit so I can now which one is renewed and which one is not. I'll make sure to make a recap every week (or so) of every death and everyone's points. Feel free to tell me if I forget about your hit in your point ranking or anything like that. Hope everything is clear, Good Luck !

Lafaucheuse 4,041 Posted November 7, 2021 11 minutes ago, Banana said: Or we're being a tad too impatient the principle of a Deadpool is patience. If you don't wanna spoil any choice (ao Deadpool or others) then don't put them on the first month, anyway these are picks that need to be alive on the 1st of January for ao for example so it won't change anything. It forces you to take risk and not put people who are vaguely known and on the edge of death in the first month. Maybe they'll die and you'll feel angry to not have put them in here, maybe they won't and you'll be able to put them both in here (when you have a hit) and in your ao pool on the first of January for example. The only thing that you need to avoid on the first month is to not have any hit in which case you'r bossing a point. In order to do so, put names that are largely known and could die in a near future. This is the very principle of this pool !! it’s a race against time : if you don’t wanna put some of your choices in here since the beginning, then you’ll have to wait for one of your hit to place them, taking the risk that your « original choice » might pass meanwhile. That’s how it works

Lafaucheuse 4,041 Posted November 8, 2021 The interest of beginning the pool on the first of December is to avoid putting the same list as AO for example in the beginning of 2022, in which case (as there’s only 20 picks here) you’ll be pretty insured to have the +20 pts corresponding to you entirely renewing your original list. If you don’t want your team spoiled, then you’ll have to go with more notable and obvious picks and keep your most unique and interesting one for later. The game is pretty simple so it has to be a little more strategic and complicated than just putting obvious names on the first of January. Here, you can in theory put everyone that you want since the beginning but the thing is, to avoid spoiler, you’ll probably be forced to make it little by little every time you’ll have a hit. It appears funnier in that way I think. You’ll have to take more risks than it first appears. let me know if you’re interested in participating. If the beginning in December is crippling then I’ll change for January but it would lose one of its interest. thanks !
msc 18,421 Posted November 8, 2021 tbh this is a bit like one of my long standing ideas I never used (basically a sort of deadpool version of The Chase). I may put in a team if I remember but it'll be the usual suspects to start off, so I don't give away my hot DDP tips that everyone else knows anyway!
Toast 16,121 Posted November 8, 2021 I think it's a decent idea, but it would be better timed in the spring or summer. It's always refreshing to have a new competition well away from the year-end logjam.

I don’t wanna wait the next 6 or so months but anyway you’ll be able to add people throughout the year. Entries are now opened for those who want to participate. theoldlady 2,294 Posted November 8, 2021 (edited) I think this will be an interesting game for me. I am going to use my survivors from 2021. I had 17/50 hits in 2021, so I am interested in seeing who would be left by the end of 2022 if our lists covered two years, instead of one year. My Subs will be the remaining names on my 2021 list as well. Thanks for doing this. 7 hits so far in the actual game. 1. Tom Smith died in APRIL : please replace with Chris Rea. 2. James Whale 3. Tom Parker died in MARCH : please replace with Willie Nelson. 4. Jimmy Carter 5. Peter Tobin 6. Bob Dole died in DECEMBER : please replace with Jean Louis Trintignant. Now that Jean Louis Trintignant has passed in JUNE: please replace with Glynis Johns. 7. Barbara Walters 8. (David Gulpilil - passed before the game started) Olivia Newton John, who replaced Gulpilil, has died in AUGUST , please replace with Gianluca Vialli. 9. Leslie Philips 10. Linda Nolan 11. Marsha Hunt 12. Noam Chomsky 13. Pele 14. Yoko Ono 15. Luis Echeverria died in JULY : please replace with Stanley Baxter. 16. Mikhail Gorbatsjov died in AUGUST Game over! 17. Shane MacGowan 18.
