But to put your life in danger constantly handling dangerous animals for no good reason made him a fool. I will never understand why people constantly think they need to mess with animals that have the potential to harm and even kill us. Leave them alone. They do not want to be messed with. And I hate those that keep dangerous snakes around in cages in their homes and in zoos. Terrible life for them I understand some have to be kept to be able to milk to make anti-venom to help those that happen to get bit to save their lives. But living with cobras and boomslangs extra having them as so called pets is flat out wrong.and so unnecessary in my opinion.

There's a difference between having these kinds of animals as pets and those in zoos. An accredited zoo is far far away from the experience anyone could give an animal at home, in a good way no less. Though yes I do agree with you that a dangerous snake is probably taken care of better in a zoo then in a home. Some of my point is creatures like these are better off not being in captivity at all. Why would it be important to have to have a cobra behind glass so people can amuse themselves. If snakes could talk, and you could interview a cobra from the wild vs a cobra at a zoo. I would be 100% sure the wild snake would be happier in his life being free to go wherever it pleased and hunt for it's food the way God intended them to live. A snake in a zoo having to be in a way force fed it's food only being able to move just so far and at times having to be man handled by humans would be an unhappy creature that can not even express their feelings. But I am sure a snake in the zoo where they are just staring at you with those unblinking dead eyes has one thought in their heads. I want to kill you. En Passant 3,745 Posted October 29 I have to admit as a child I liked the zoo. As an adult I agree with the premise that animals belong where their habitat is, not in a zoo (nor an aquarium/seaworld) with one possible exception - those that are close to extinction because of something we did in the first place. I appreciate this would mean kids of future generations might not be able to see these animals up close (at least not that easily), but that to me is the lesser of two evils. Just my 2p worth.
ladyfiona 2,612 Posted October 29 My opinions of zoo's have changed over the years. Especially when I went to Las Vegas and in one of the casinos they have/had lions on show in MGM Grand...in the casino. It didn't look right at all. Don't get me started on SeaWorld and how they treat their Orcas. If a wildlife park/zoo is doing it for conservation and protection of a species then I am all for them (especially if they have a large enough enclosure). FinalChapter 75 Posted October 30 The vast majority of zoos, at least here in the US, are accredited wildlife conservation organizations that largely only showcase animals that lack the ability to survive in the wild if they were released. The image of zoos being little better than circuses in how they treat their animals is very outdated IMO.
