Lafaucheuse 4,043 Posted August 20 Oh! Really thought she could reach 118… Tomika Itooka takes the title at 116, another drop in age. Funny enough I was going through photos of my great grandfather yesterday, born 1908, and mentionned that the oldest woman was born in 1907.

drol 11,906 Posted August 20 Just six left from the 00s. Maybe some more out there (I'd be surprised if there's really no one from China), but the last survivor will probably be among these six. Makes no much sense to talks about their health at this age, they are all terminally ill. I guess the 00s will be extinguished by the end of 2026 or mid-2027.
Lafaucheuse 4,043 Posted August 20 has someone a quick recap of the known top 10 health status ? I just know that Marie Rose Tessier survived pneumonia and being put on ventilator a while back and that she has no health problem now but that's all…

For whatever reason this isn't mentioned in the Gerontology Wikipedia or whatever it's called. 2. Canabarro Lucas: Hospitalised for a month in May 2022, back in hospital in October 2022 with covid. I recall she's been hospitalised atleast once since. Always seems to recover quite well. 3. Francis: Bedbound for atleast the last three or four years. 4. Caterham: In a slow health decline. 5. Hayashi: Described as very health conscious. Only recently in slightly worsening health. Back in May 2023 I predicted she might be the last living person born in the 1900s. We'll see. 6. Kretschmann: Seemingly in very good health. Visited a factory earlier this year, which is quite amazing for someone of that age. 7. Shiroishi: Very frail, mentally seems still there. 8. Tessier: Mentioned above. 9. Martin Diaz: Extremely frail, barely conscious but not bedbound. 10. Kondo: Decent health, frail but can apparently walk on good days.

Clorox Bleachman 2,402 Posted August 20 What is there to do but to pick 20 more 110-year-olds? Let's see if one becomes the world's oldest person in 2030. Delia Maria Solano Hernández (Colombia) – 13th Jan 1914 Fusako Wakai (Japan) – 19th Jan 1914 Leontina Ruberto (Italy) – 19th Jan 1914 Elizabeth Werrenrath (USA) – 28th Jan 1914 Helen Ching (USA) – 28th Jan 1914 Fumi Seino (Japan) – 2nd Feb 1914 Emma Robinson (USA) – 9th Feb 1914 Hilda Luck (UK) – 19th Feb 1914 Sadami Matsuoka (Japan) – 20th Feb 1914 Anonymous (UK) – 20th Feb 1914 Doris Watts (UK) – 28th Feb 1914 Yoshiko Miwa (USA) – 28th Feb 1914 Primo Olivieri (Brazil) – 7th Mar 1914 Haruko Tanaka (Japan) – 7th Mar 1914 Kirsten Schwalbe (Denmark) – 10th Mar 1914 Julia Siragusa (Puerto Rico/USA) – 11th Mar 1914 Kiyotaka Mizuno (Japan) – 14th Mar 1914 Vitantonio Lovallo (Italy) – 28th Mar 1914 Odessa Bowie (USA) – 29th Mar 1914 Marjorie Hodnett (UK) – 1st Apr 1914 Should be an interesting mix. 3 men, 5 pairs of birthday twins, 7 or 8 nationalities. I'm rooting for Hilda because her surname is Luck, she once lived in Scotland, and she was born on the same day as my grandad.

frleon 138 Posted August 20 Charlotte Kretschmann is active on Insta (there’s no info whether she or eg a relative takes care of the account, fwiw, her terse messages do sound like what my 80-something grandparents would write), though silent since march. If on her birthday in December there’s no activity that’d be a very bad sign. However, there’s a reassuring article on that factory visit mentioned by arghton (https://www.stuttgarter-nachrichten.de/inhalt.aelteste-deutsche-aus-kirchheim-unter-teck-114-jaehrige-besucht-dettinger-schokoladenfabrik.bebc5d4b-50bc-4e5e-8c77-08476d81dbb1.html, paywalled). It’s very much on-brand, given her documented love of rich food and the old drink: She says the milk chocolate looks nice but she’d prefer something with alcohol in it. In a wheelchair, but with (at least!) some sight and hearing left, and unlike eg Lucile Randon, enjoying life very much.
drol 11,906 Posted August 20 I'll paste here some comments taken from the 110Club. Remember, for the death of a 117 year old who died in her sleep without suffering. "Rest in peace... I can't believe it! " "I did not know She died, but i opened the 110 club where It said She died and i though It was fake,i was having a panic Attack cause She seemed strong, when i checked on Google "Maria branyas morera"It said She died August 19 2024,i am gonna cry" "Nooo!!! Please someone tell me that this is not really happening, I want to believe that this is fake news... I am in Shock and on the verge of tears right now!!!! I refuse to believe this happened.. The entire World should be in mourning for 2 weeks with this horrible news, Maria Branyas is in my thoughts right now." 1
Beltranesss 9 Posted August 20 That sucks. Maria was the only supercentenarian I truly believed she could beat Jeanne Calment. Crazy to think that Lucile Randon lived one year longer than her, blind and unable to move a muscle in her body. WTF
