Captain Oates 21 Posted July 7, 2005 They closed the local station & shopping mall, causing chaos in the streets for a time - and this is about 10 miles from central London. But they didn't get me. This afternoon, I had to teach a very worried 10 year old girl who didn't know where her father was. The school had decided not to tell the young children about what had happened, but she knew because she had been out on a trip to the library. The only realistic thing to do was carry on, regardless. Later, I went to teach an older child at home whose mother is a police inspector. While I was there, the call came through to ask her to help out with Family Liaison. I was determined not to listen to any news on the radio, so it wasn't until I started to get large amounts of text messages from friends and family saying they were OK that I twigged something was up. Having heard 2 bombs go off fairly close by before, one the work of the IRA, the other some Halibut extremists blowing up an Israeli diplomatic residence, I doubt if i'll be giving it much thought in a week or two. There's another way of looking at it: bombs tend to go off near you.
