Tempus Fugit 214 Posted November 19, 2005 CP, I take yer points. Thought raising her profile might be useful in terms of prompting a greater authority than IMDB to post some information. Are we sure she's in good health? All I've managed to discover is that she's still alive. I did some limited research... I can't find a single article that even mentions her health. She did appear at the 1998 and 2003 Academy Awards ceremoines, but no mention of how she looked. NNDB and IMDB don't list a single health problem, in fact the only mention that I could find about anything suspect was an abortion she had in the late 1930s (according to Wikipedia). Of course, age is age, but that's always the luck of the draw. If we didn't add her and she died on January 1, 2006, it wouldn't have been a poor decision on the part of the council, just pure bad luck. Also, we do have plenty of prime candidates, so old age should be something we consider after other things. This is the latest pic I was able to find, Luise Rainer attending the London premiere of "The Aviator" in December 2004. She looks pretty good for her age. YoungWillz 21,067 Posted May 1, 2015 A lot of you know already what a big fan I am of movies. Well, tonight I watched That's Entertainment! (1974), the story of the MGM musicals up to the 1950's. I was looking at the people who appeared either as hosts or in archive footage and the ones still living could be good ones for next year's list. Here they are: Liza Minnelli - born 1946 - Still young though Debbie Reynolds - born 1932 Mickey Rooney - born 1920 Elizabeth Taylor - born 1932 - yes I know she is on the list this year June Allyson - born 1917 Kay Armen - born 1920 Leslie Caron - born 1931 Carleton Carpenter - born 1926 Cyd Charisse - born 1921 Vic Damone - born 1928 Deanna Durbin - born 1921 Kathryn Grayson - born 1922 Lena Horne - born 1917 Van Johnson - born 1916 Louis Jourdan - born 1919 Tony Martin - born 1912 - seems a prime candidate Fayard Nicholas - born 1914 Margaret O'Brien - born 1937 - still rather young Jane Powell - born 1929 Russ Tamblyn - born 1934 Esther Williams - born 1922 Arlene Dahl - born 1928 Gloria DeHaven - born 1925 Betty Garrett - born 1919 Audrey Totter - born 1918 That's Entertainment II: Doris Day - born 1924 Nanette Fabray - born 1920 Marge Champion - born 1919 Betty Hutton - born 1921 Tommy Rall - born 1929 That's Entertainment III: Angela Lansbury - born 1925 Luise Rainer - born 1910 Hmm, seem to have quite a bit here. How about we make the Deathlist have 100 people on it. Came across this thread and wondered if this list could do with an update.

gcreptile 10,979 Posted May 1, 2015 I believe it, YoungWillz! It took some time, so it was likely that two efforts would overlap. @ Bibliogryphon: I guess one could try fishing for a unique hit, but if that does not succeed, then one has a couple of 90+ year old people whose likelihood of dying is just the same as those of tons of others. These lists are better for trying to find out who not to pick I guess.

Predictor 1,018 Posted May 2, 2015 Does anyone have any information on David Davies? The actor played Mr Arrow in Disney's Treasure Island (1950) was born in 1906. He was doing voice overs for Star Wars cartoons in 2001. The trail has now gone cold. The 3rd April 2006 will be his 100th birthday, if he's not already in Davy Jones Locker... How on Earth could he have done voice-over work for Star Wars cartoons in 2001 if he died back in 1974? Did he come back as a ghost or? :/ http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0203664/

Article simply said she couldn't attend, NOTHING about being TOO ILL to attend. Don't bring hyperbole to this site it's the last thing we need. SC Ah, not hyperbole, but I found the news originally in a Telegraph article, here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/film/movie-news/spike-lee-oscar-acceptance-diversity/ It literally says there that she was too ill. But the Telegraph has a paywall policy ("only allowed to read x articles for free), so I linked the Daily Mail article about the same thing instead, and didn't realize they used a different wording. But I looked further and this version here: http://variety.com/2015/film/awards/debbie-reynolds-governors-awards-statement-1201639989/ says that she is in an "unexpectedly long recovery" from recent surgery.
