Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted September 1, 2006 Randy Rhoads, although not a drummer, still gets my vote for the most entertaining rock 'n' roll death http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Rhoads combining elements of both a plane and bus crash, with a dusting of drugs mixed in. I'm not sure crashing into one's own tour bus quite counts as ironic, hence posting this in this thread, not the other one.
maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted September 1, 2006 Top ironic rock death, mind, has to be Scott La Rock - rapper - sat outside in a car whilst warring gang factions inside the house argued. Scott went in to make peace and got shot dead for his efforts.

maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted October 24, 2006 Hello Teddy Sandy got some coverage on the near misses thread a few days back. But she should've been here too, bit of an oversight on our part to miss that. Had meself a spin of the first album including Cherry Bomb, holds up well considering it's thirty years old. DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted November 3, 2006 Wally Ingram, the former drummer of Timbuk 3 I thought they used a drum machine? From Wiki: "Initially they performed live as a duo backed up by a large "ghettoblaster". They were joined in 1991, by Wally Ingram and Courtney Audain. Guest Gordon Paul Taylor Posted December 4, 2006 Not that it matters much, but Dick Thyne ( of Sandelles fame) died when his Saab hit a tree near Forestville, CA. You got the date right, however. GT
DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted December 12, 2006 Dave Black, jazz drummer who toured and recorded with Duke Ellington's big band, has died of pancreatic cancer aged 78. Onstage he liked feigning blindness and playing drums with a walking stick. He outlived his son, Lawrence "Brittley" Black, a heavy metal drummer who died from diabetic complications in 2004.
