Tuber Mirum 125 Posted September 16, 2005 OK point taken - I just find it irritating when people take the knee-jerk(mainly anti-US) view that Western countries killing civilians accidently during a war against combatants are as "guilty" as a terrorist who deliberately targets civilians. Can we talk of degrees of guilt? Or is it just convenient or comforting for the guilty as hell to believe that others are "more guilty" than they?
Paul Bearer 6,102 Posted September 16, 2005 Its impossible to say what would have happened had America not joined the war in Europe. Who can tell? Here's how it might have been if the Germans had won the first world war. And here's an interesting variant on WW2. This is also not bad. Continue on to read the following topics; it takes about six pages until someone brings up the World Cup final of 1966. Bloody hell, your right. BTW The ball didn't cross the line. maryportfuncity 10,647 Posted September 17, 2005 My thread on the whether any nation might use nuclear weapons in future was pulled on the grounds of irrelevance and because it turned into a slanging match. Worth a thought though, in these turbulent times. If anyone does nuke anyone else, who will do the nuking and who'll be on the end of it? Might not even be a country launching the next strike. Guest Mr Magoo Posted September 20, 2005 All America's problems today and the events from 9/11 stem back to Vietnam. America's defeat showed to the world that the great superpower could be beaten by a low tech enemy. A message not lost on today's trouble makers. If only Nixon had gone ahead and "Dropped the big one on Hanoi"! I understand, the thought crossed his mind but Kissenger talked him out of it. Perhaps that would have kept people in their place. Discuss.

Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted September 20, 2005 America's defeat showed to the world that the great superpower could be beaten by a low tech enemy. To which I'd add, it also showed the US (and Britain, et al) could be defeated, or at least significantly harmed and inconvenienced, if they don't exactly know who their enemy is, or where they are. Witness the "success" of Al Qaida and the Iraqi insurgents, who very inconveniently don't go around wearing uniforms, driving marked vehicles, or remaining in troop formations, and who choose to attack mainly civilians. Cheaters.
Guest Guest Posted September 21, 2005 "Message to terrorists everywhere, you can run but you can't hide" hmm, not so sure about that one Ronny. I watched Reagan's funeral on Fox, and was quite shocked at the Thatcher impersonation by the minister, "Roooooooooooonnnnnny" Any one else see it, it was quite amazing. Guest Mr Magoo Posted September 21, 2005 As this thread seems to be about having a pop at George Bush, I thought I would just toss in this facinating gem. While reading up about search engine optimisation, I can across an article that states that a group of webmasters have been going around putting links on pages for the text "Whitehouse failure" pointing to George Bush's biography, it works too! just type in "whitehouse failure" on Google or even just "failure"
Dr Strangelove 14 Posted September 21, 2005 If only Nixon had gone ahead and "Dropped the big one on Hanoi"! Well boy would that make America popular! Plus of course the Russians would probably retaliate - not with nuclear weapons initially but conventionally, possibly against West Berlin. My prediction - if Nixon "Dropped the big one on Hanoi" the world would have slipped into WWIII within six months. Perhaps that would have kept people in their place. If their place is to be dead, then yes.

Canadian Paul 97 Posted May 16, 2006 New 9/11 video released. Too much traffic seems to have overloaded the Judicial Watch site, so I can't link directly to it, but I'm sure it'll be available soon enough.
maryportfuncity 10,647 Posted May 16, 2006 Quote from Canadian Paul's link: Watchdog group says video will end 'conspiracy theories' Opinion from MPFC: Dream on suckers, die-hard lovers of conspiracy theories are not much troubled by facts. How long before someone says it took this long to release the video because their computer generated images had to look perfect. Oops, I've already said it.
