That's an argument for much more careful dispensation of the death penalty, no doubt about it.  The utmost and extreme standards of proof even. But there's no reason to keep living someone like say, Ted Bundy, or John Wayne Gacy.

The benefit of executing a Bundy (of which there is very little) is far outweighed by the danger of the state murdering innocent people under the guise of justice. No standard is high enough to avoid these judicial miscarriages. The danger is simply too great.

Then you’ve zero knowledge of how the legal system works.  Why not walk us through the process of how your innocent strawman ended up being executed.

You can be against the DP on other grounds (meaning purely moral ones, what other is there?) but not that confounded nonsense of reasoning.

I don't know what Bizarro world you live in where only guilty people get put on death row and executed, but back in reality there is a bunch of cases where innocent people have been wrongfully convicted and spent decades in death row, or have been executed before new evidence came to light proving their innocence.

Utah executes Taberon Honie (Wiki) for rape and murder of his ex-girlfriend's mom, as well as the sexual abuse of one of the murder victim's granddaughters. He was 48 and had been on death row for 25 years. He seems to have confessed to it (though blamed it on fetal alcohol syndrome and having brain damage from a fall as a teen). This is the first execution in Utah since 2010 and took place via lethal injection.

It’s probably been addressed before, but why do the drugs cost so much and certain states often seem to not have enough of them? Is phenobarbital that difficult to produce?

My guess is producers don't want to sell them for death penalty reasons because they get bad press, so they hike up the prices as much as they can

The great democratic Iranian regime has just executed Jamshid Sharmahd, a 69-year old political dissident who was also suffering from Parkinson's. The charge was "corruption on earth".
