maryportfuncity 10,684 Posted January 7, 2006 He's dead alright, as far as this thread is concerned. Is he - maybe - related to Cliff Mitchelmore?
A.Friedman 0 Posted January 8, 2006 I'd pick George Schultz before Cap, Schultz has Cancer.

Guest iain Posted January 10, 2006 Caspar may soon be a ghost because he was the only(surviving) ex defence secretary not to attend a summit on Iraq with Pres Bush last week..even 89 yr old Robert McNamara turned up
Mortician 2 Posted January 12, 2006 Caspar may soon be a ghost because he was the only(surviving) ex defence secretary not to attend a summit on Iraq with Pres Bush last week..even 89 yr old Robert McNamara turned up Might be to avoid calling attention to Bush snr's involvement in his pardon over Iran Contra... MacNamara will never avoid an opportunity to have a pop at the Neo Cons, I suspect, even from beyond the grave. If you get the chance watch this, do so: Fog of War Shows that at least one Secretary of Defence thought about bombing the hell out of the rest of the world... maryportfuncity 10,684 Posted January 12, 2006 Does anyone out there know any place to investigate the man's health? It strikes me we need some such fuel to set this thread alight.
Canadian Paul 97 Posted January 12, 2006 Does anyone out there know any place to investigate the man's health? It strikes me we need some such fuel to set this thread alight. Wikipedia's got nothing. "Caspar Weinberger" +health on google brings up several things, the most relevant of which might have the health of his wife 20 years ago, directly copied from Wikipedia. "Caspar Weinberg" +cancer on google brings up DL on the first page

Banshees Scream 110 Posted March 28, 2006 Somehow before I clicked on his name I knew he was allready dead. It's usually a guest who comes along and gives us the word. Now it seems Grim Reaper has another obituary to write. And I was just thinking before how amusing it would be if he didn't write Profumo's obituary and a death came in. Apparently now that is the case............A new Deathlist Record? Well The Banshee Screams again/ Headline - Caspar's a ghost?
Banshees Scream 110 Posted March 28, 2006 This is a image of the late Caspar Weinberger - Good for the front page. United States Secretary of Defense under Reagon...
Octopus of Odstock 2,215 Posted March 28, 2006 Well, it will be hit number four once a British news site picks up on it. Again, a sign that things certainly happen in twos - look at it in the last few days:- Two British Tv actors dead in a day Two racing drivers dead in two days. Two rock musicians dead in two days. Two noted artists dead in two days. and now.. Two of Reagan's closest aides dead in two days.
Guest iain Posted March 28, 2006 I have a strong feeling that today marks the beginning of a period of rapid deathlist 'hits'
Magere Hein 1,400 Posted March 28, 2006 BBC News has the story. If our candidates keep up this pace, we'll get a bumper crop this year. regards, Hein
Canadian Paul 97 Posted March 28, 2006 Well, it will be hit number four once a British news site picks up on it. Didn't know that was a requirement once DL candidates were already on the list. Well, I'd been predicting that someone on my list would go before the end of the month, but this is almost the same thing. Well chosen DL!
Octopus of Odstock 2,215 Posted March 28, 2006 Didn't know that was a requirement once DL candidates were already on the list. It's on the front page of the Deathlist, CP. I see what you mean though, but there might be an occasion (I admit unlikely) where a DL selection doesn't make a UK obit. Indeed there's a few this year that given a busy news day or week might have the DL biting its proverbial fingernails. This is a good hit by the DL. Not the most famous on the list, not particulary in ill-health. I'd say this makes up for at least one of Rugova or Winters. Yet another DDP selection I missed, though. Obviously being terminally ill or very old doesn't appear to make much difference these days....
Canadian Paul 97 Posted March 28, 2006 Didn't know that was a requirement once DL candidates were already on the list. It's on the front page of the Deathlist, CP. Wow, so it is. Shows you how often I visit the front page I suppose... I wouldn't say it's such a bad miss for those who missed him... I didn't know about his ill health until I heard he missed the former secretary of defense meeting in 2006 that even McNamara, two years his elder, didn't miss...
