A famous belgian, Josette Baujot, has died, on August 13.

So probably not that famous then.

She was an artist/colourist and was apparently responsible for developing the "colour code" for many Tin Tin books.

Her Partner Joseph Loeckx, also a comic book artist who worked under the pseudonym of Jo-El Azara has died 85. Obit (In French.)

Belgian musician best known (to me) as co-writer and voice of cult hit "Ca plane pour moi":

As an English speaker, that song is hands-down the hardest song I have ever karaoked. It’s also a lot of fun trying. I didn’t realise PB did a Milli Vanilli on it, though.

Saw an advert outside a bar today that says Pascal Brel will be playing tomorrow night. I wonder if he is any relation to the famous Belgian who donne(s) his name to this thread - can anyone tell me?

No relation, as far as I know, though Brel does have a nephew called Bruno who's a singer-songwriter.

Incidentally, Jackie's one of only 3 people to feature in the Top 10 Greatest Belgians list as voted for by both the Flemish and the Walloons, so he's a real national treasure.

Above from the Jacques Brel extra curricular thread.

Bruno Brel reportedly dead: https://www-lavenir-net.translate.goog/regions/luxembourg/wellin/2025/01/19/bruno-brel-neveu-du-grand-jacques-et-wellinois-dadoption-sen-est-alle-WFLCDBEOIRCSJBEJDXMVTEESIE/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp

Wrote and performed in the competition for the 1980 Belgian Eurovision entry, but failed, losing out to Telex who performed the imaginatively titled Eurovision at the Finals - possibly up there with the worst Finals entries I have heard to date.
