maryportfuncity 10,630 Posted March 21, 2006 Given the lengthy life of the DL I was wondering. Who is the youngest success in the top 50 and have we ever successfully nominated a dead un' older than Brooke Astor is now? I'm sure there are many other figure based frolics other DL'isters might want addressed.
Windsor 2,233 Posted March 21, 2006 In 1995 Rose Kennedy died in her 105th year (not sure if she seen 105 though).
Handrejka 1,903 Posted March 21, 2006 Tom Gullikson aged 45 and Simon Caddell aged 46 in 1996. Not sureif there have been any younger. What's your idea of young maryportfuncity?

Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted March 21, 2006 Looking back through the old lists brings a tear to the eye. Those were heady days - in 1991 we got none right! But back then people were chosen for being famous and interesting, not for being 95. Check out 1993, for example. All the deaths were people under 70, and I bet people have heard of 'em. And Gary Lineker's son got nominated. Gah, what a bunch of sickos!
Rotten Ali 600 Posted March 21, 2006 Quick one - to ask if my personal speadsheet of about 575 famous people, cross referenced to build ratios for five different deadpools, due to different point scoring critiea of those listed as possible candidates, qualifies me to be a DL statto? Sounds a touch on the over-qualified side if you ask me... I think it sounds like an attempt to get the job of 'DL Stats Man' too, if there is such a post. Although if memory serves me well there is currently a Mr Stats moderator who might get a bit upset!

Although if memory serves me well there is currently a Mr Stats moderator who might get a bit upset! There is indeed a Mr Stats, although he hasn't been on the site since January. He's taken on more of a CEO role of late, focusing on big picture issues like compiling candidates for the year-end nomination ceremony, which sadly he missed last year. From what I recall of Rotten Ali's posts he's pretty good with suggesting people for the list, and with those mad spreadsheet skillz he boasts I'd endorse his candidacy for DL Statto. Not sure what responsibilities that entails, other than having to track down bits of info others are too lazy to look for.
Rotten Ali 600 Posted March 21, 2006 And where do you find time to earn a living? Not sure Mr Josco! right now I'm waiting to start a new contract next week. I've been told a time or two, to "get a life" - that's a 180 degree reversal of this task as I've been looking to sort out if I can "get a death"!

Stab I await your posts, and those of Rotten Ali, as a cautious shepherd awaits the first swallow before letting his flock on to the hills. Wisdom and bollocks in equal measure, like all statistics. maryportfuncity 10,630 Posted May 20, 2006 Can we call in the statto again? I noticed Bennett Cerf is averaging 27.5 POSTS PER DAY! Surely, not even early Windsor has touched this level of performance.

maryportfuncity 10,630 Posted May 20, 2006 I refer the honourable Pulphack to my reply to the honourable member for Canada, posted not more than five minutes ago on the F1 thread. maryportfuncity 10,630 Posted May 21, 2006 Bit harsh on yerself there Windsor I think. If you're fixin' to let the sense of melancholy rule you out of the game for a while a la Tempus, please don't succumb to the temptation.

maryportfuncity 10,630 Posted February 12, 2007 Given the way our current runners appear to be eyeing each other before falling over the fences I was wondering, what's the longest the DL has had to wait for its first hit of the year. Have we ever gone through January AND February with all fifty still boasting a pulse?
