I don't know, I think Donald Sutherland could make a good doctor despite being Canadian. Can't really say the same for the other people though...

Also had roles in Hammer movies The Kiss Of The Vampire and The Reptile, but it's too late for me to search for the B-Movie thread. ;) Was the widow of the actor Dinsdale Landen.

Mixing him up with Alfred Lynch (the other guy from Fenric)? Who had a 40+ year relationship with James Culliford (who appeared in Frontier in Space!). Lynch wound up looking after him for 30 odd years. Of course, it used to be that in Who fandom, people mistook Culliford for Landen (ie for being Lynch's other half), because Landen played a wheelchair bound man in Fenric alongside Lynch, and both died in the same week, iirc. (Culliford died shortly before Lynch too, so it all sort of merges, I guess.)

Curse of Fenric was fantastic though and so was Landen, entertaining in everything, even shite like The Buccaneers. One of those actors who should have been much bigger than they were, imo.

Seen Adam Adamant, but don't mind his widow off of it.

Speaking of old luvvies, what's Peter Wyngarde up to these days? Now there was a fun actor. Always reminds me of Spinal Tap's "these go to 11" in terms of OTT-ness.

And another thing - I was watching an episode of Taggart on one of the freeview channels the other night. One of the shite ones, but anyhow, do you know who turned up as a villain? Jill Gascoine? You can't escape the Deathlist these days.

My friend took his daughter to a con a he looked at the line up of signing sessions and said in a very loud voice Goodness me Peter Wyngarde is he still alive?

The black marketeer in Dalek Invasion of Earth... before he gets killed by a terrible special effect. Retired from acting to become an artist iirc.

Not many left who worked on the original Quatermass Experiment now. Bar the indomitable Paddy Russell, of course, who was a production assistant.

Via twitter reports, the wonderful (and terrifying) Paddy Russell is said to have died aged 89. :rip:

Also, Invasion of the Chewit Monster:

:D

Which I am quite fond of, tbh.

None of the issues with that are at the door of Russell anyhow, being smart enough to know the bloody things were best kept in the background as much as possible!

Very sad news. Really enjoyed listening to her commentaries on the old Dr Who DVDs , esp how she coped with Tom Baker's demanding behaviour !

PS here's an obit for her http://www.doctorwhonews.net/2017/11/paddy-russell-1928-2017.html

He's very good in Image of the Fendahl. When I made the wife endure more bloody Doctor Who showed the story to the better half, she was surprised they got away with his demise in 70s Who. Probably wouldn't now.

Fendahl is a firm favourite of mine...it was a real hide behind the sofa one for me and I think it would hold up today.

I quite like it. But you know, assisted suicide, in kids TV. That's a bit heavy!

Oh, sorry, spoilers if TMIB or Biblio haven't seen it...:P

Seen it of course!

By Chris Boucher but not a patch on 'The Robots of Death' IMO, although better than 'The Face of Evil', which I've never warmed to...
