Wrong Ira Bernstein.

Seeley “obit” is clearly bot generated.

I did think it was a bot, then it mentioned they met Seeley, so I posted it. No virus came up for me, but apologies if anything did come from it.

Someone just edited the page of Nobel laureate chemist Rudolph A. Marcus (wiki) to say he died on October 22nd, aged 101.

Looked quite frail in a picture of him in July when he was using a Zimmer frame. The editor's IP is Texas-based and has no previous edit histories. Let's just wait and see I guess...

Edit reverted. If it was true, the Canadian papers (and maybe the LA or NY Times) would likely have said something about it by now.

British character actor Denys Graham (wiki) died yesterday in London, aged 98, according to his page.

Plenty of mentions on here before, least not because he had supporting roles in several iconic war movies – Zulu, The Dam Busters, Dunkirk (1958 version), and All Quiet on the Western Front (remake).

Canadian actor Carl Banas (Wiki) dead at 95, mentioned before as dead but it was a hoax, could be true this time?

One of the last surviving actor of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

My Google search to confirm this led me back here, if that's any indication. Anyone who took part in my childhood favourite The Raccoons would be a sad one for me.

Confirmation that Denys Graham has indeed died.

Think it's safe to say that this one is a hoax. Nothing in almost a week. He was a personality on a local radio station for years – they haven't announced anything. Also, the editor's IP was from the States, presumably nowhere near where Banas lives. They also put as the edit summary "performed minor cleanup" (which wasn't the case) – makes me think intentional vandalism, probably from the person who was behind the first hoax.

Closest thing I’ve got to an obituary on Norman Scarth is a “dear friend” who posted about him semi regularly wishing him a happy heavenly birthday this year on Oct 9 2024

edit: For Richard G Candelaria the American Fighter Aces Association of which he was a member reportedly sent out an email at the end of September saying he died. I can’t find anything further on it as I’m not a member but one of the places his name might be added to is their public page for aces we have lost.

For Peter Cummins tributes started on the 4th October from his friends and on the 10th the State Theatre Company South Australia where he worked put a tribute up too (can’t get the link to work) but they’ve posted one on both Facebook and Instagram.

If John Giles is the Olympic athlete born in 1927 then I’m pretty sure he’s died. There’s an account on Flickr for a Terence Giles (possibly a son) who has uploaded an album full of photos of him and all his medals and awards as well as his birthdate of 9th February 1927 and a death date of 7th April 2024
