Sir Creep 7,070 Posted October 26, 2017 3 hours ago, The Ashes Urn said: Hattie McDaniel was blown away by the wind on this day 65 years ago, aged 57. Louise Beavers, another black actress from the same era as Hattie McDaniel, and who of course was cubby-holed into the roles of 'maid' 'slave' or 'servant', died this day as well 55 years ago (60). Interestingly, Beavers was one of three actresses (including Hattie McDaniel and Ethel Watters) to portray housekeeper Beulah on the Beulah television show. That show was the first television sitcom to star a black person. Pretty cool coincidence here in the Anniversary thread.
