in eternum+ 22 Posted October 25, 2005 One of my picks for next years list - 100 year old actor Charles Lane. Here's his IMDB - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0485272/ This is also 900! Now only 100 more before i reach the glorious 1000. Well done BS! Some fireworks for you too.

in eternum+ 22 Posted October 26, 2005 As mentioned a while ago, I'd really like to see at least one of the 1970s/80s great TV detectives on the list next year. Most of 'em are starting to get up there in years. Although I'd LOVE to see Angela Lansbury on the list, and although she is over 80, she seems to be in pretty good nick - she had to have some sort of knee-replacement surgery this year so maybe she's starting to unravel at the seams a bit, but I reckon she's still got a few years left in her. In which case I say: let's have another made-for-TV Murder She Wrote feature length extravaganza Ang, and we'll see you here in a few years' time. Peter Falk is climbing up the years but is, apparently, as fit as a fiddle. Andy Griffith, however, might be worth considering. Here's his IMDB bio. He's had Guillain-Barre Syndrome, his son died a few years ago, and in 2000 he underwent a quadruple bypass (must be all that ukelele playing...). Maybe his 80th birthday will tip him over the edge? Tomb raider 9 Posted October 26, 2005 Andy Griffith, however, might be worth considering. Here's his IMDB bio. He's had Guillain-Barre Syndrome, his son died a few years ago, and in 2000 he underwent a quadruple bypass (must be all that ukelele playing...). Maybe his 80th birthday will tip him over the edge? Spouse Cindi Knight (2 April 1983 - present) Solica Cassuto (1973 - 1981) Barbara Edwards (1949 - 1972) He doesn't seem to have much luck with the women either, does he? Do you think it's possible he took a leaf out of the Matlock-books himself? He still has to turn eighty though. And the Guillain-Barré Syndrome does sound nasty, but it says here: Most patients, however, recover from even the most severe cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome That's not too promising. We'd better leave Matlock for another year, I think.
Tomb raider 9 Posted October 26, 2005 My suggestion would be Jean, the former Grand Duke of Luxembourg. His wife passed away last year and HRH looked extremely frail at the occasion. He's also 84 years old and not getting any younger. (His proper name is Jean Benoit Guillaume Robert Antoine Louis Marie Adolphe Marc d'Aviano by the Grace of God, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Duke of Nassau, Prince of Bourbon-Parma, Count Palatine of the Rhine, Count of Sayn, Königstein, Katzenellenbogen and Diez, Burgrave of Hammerstein, Seigneur of Mahlberg, Wiesbaden, Idstein, Merenberg, Limburg and Eppstein. The more obscure the royalty, the longer their names, don't you think?)
Gunjaman5000 30 Posted October 26, 2005 Now it's getting on time for the end of year nominations, I'd be keen to see Edmund Hillary. Brown narrow teeth, sack full of phlegm lungs when drawing a breath, he'd be a real contender in my books.

in eternum+ 22 Posted October 26, 2005 Peter Falk is climbing up the years but is, apparently, as fit as a fiddle. Nnnnoooooooooooo! You can't put Peter on the list, he's ....he's.... he's..... erm you just can't put him on the list! Quite. When I was googling him a few months ago I came across an article (which I can't find now, gawddammit!) about how Peter Falk recently was attacked by a dog, and not only did he survive pretty much without a scratch, he and his wife have now adopted the dog. I'd say he'll be around for a while. He still has to turn eighty though. And the Guillain-Barré Syndrome does sound nasty, but it says here: QUOTE Most patients, however, recover from even the most severe cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome That's not too promising. We'd better leave Matlock for another year, I think. With regard to DvD, I don't think he should be ruled out. If I were in the DDP he would be my wildcard. I think he deserves serious consideration for the 2006 list - let's not forget the quadruple bypass and the dead son. I don't think being over 80 should be the overriding decision making factor which governs who gets selected.

Forgive me my ignorance, but who or what is DvD? You are not messing up you're tv-detectives, are you? Whoops! Yes, you're absolutely right. I was, of course, meaning to refer to Andy Griffith. With all these TV detectives running round in my head, sometimes it's hard to keep them all straight. DvD appears to be a pillar of health at the mo.

maryportfuncity 10,645 Posted November 28, 2005 If we could count 'life' other than individual people I think Veritas: the political party founded by Robert Kilroy Silk to fight the 2005 election, will die in 2006 when every annual subscription runs out. Put it this way: the web site is up for sale.
Canadian Paul 97 Posted November 29, 2005 Estelle Getty Harold Pinter Joseph Barbera Patty Andrews Wendie Jo Sperber Ronnie Biggs John Archibald Wheeler Ron Santo Kitty Carlisle Max Roach Henry Heimlich Those are the ones that we've discussed and not shut down that will most likely end up on my DDP. With any deadpool, I try to make it 75% rational choices and 25% intuition/feeling just to spice things up. DL, I feel, should be 100% rationality, which is why I cut out a lot of my more questionable candidates. Then again, it's all up to GR, but there's a short list for him to look at/debate. I'll try and make something more comprehensive later, since I think there have been a lot of great suggestions that are more suitable to a 50 person game.
