Well if nothing else we've established that there are 2 intelligent people on this forum who appreciate cricket.........

Can I add the Captain to the list...

But not this Captain.

I fear I would fail both criteria. :o

Posh?, I wouldn't know,

Wassenaar has the highest number of millionaires per capita of all Dutch municipalities.

That, and a communist. :o

regards,

Hein

Wassenaar is also a question asked by customs officers at Cardiff airport.

Hein, did you know the Dutch have just qualified for the 2007 Cricket World Cup? They are officially one of the best 16 national sides.

That's news to me. I seem to remember they were in the Cricket World Cup before, in South-Africa IIRC, and were thoroughly thrashed by the big boys.

You'll be pleased to hear that the draw for the World Cup has been made and Holland are in the same group as Australia, South Africa and Scotland. Good luck. :D

Bill Brown

The last survivor of an Australian team to have lost at Lords (cricket ground)

"Brown is the fourth-oldest Test cricketer, behind the New Zealanders Eric Tindill and Jack Kerr (both 94) and South African Norman Gordon (93). A very correct player, he averaged 46.82 from 22 Tests and 51.44 in first-class cricket.

"I nearly came to England but my ticker plays up a bit.

I will be watching, though. I don't know why England don't do better at Lord's. I think it's a combination of things but playing there lifts everyone."

allow me to tempt fate, get ahead of myself, etc. and suggest the death of the cockiness in all Australian cricket players and fans. Unfortunately if it happens it will be in 2005, and we didn't think to nominate such an obscure and unlikely entity for this year.

If England win the Ashes, it will be the birth of English arrogance I can assure you!

If you ask English rugby fans about their latest failures, you always get the stock answer of "It doesn't matter, we are still champions of the World!"

See what I mean?

DWB :D

I thought English arrogance had been in existence for some time, waxing and waning with the country's fortunes, sporting or otherwise. It has probably been on a downward trend since the death of Victoria with a few peaks since.

Yup, we're arrogant, but hey! We're going to stuff the Aussies in this test at least! :D:DB)

(and yes, I'm prepared to have this one bite me on the arse if it rains for the next 3 days)

Cricket, some say is the sporting equivalent of war ie 99% boredom, 1% terror.

Like painting or playing golf?

I would say about 90% of all wars ends with one defeating the other.

The only war in my knowing that there wasn't a winner was probobly

Vietnam.
