Badly translated article on Hong Kong film industry stars. Mentions twelve people who have recently died and four who are currently battling serious illnesses:

1. Zhang Weiwen (64) Popular singer there, suffers from diabetes, lumbar spondylosis and a plethora of other health issues. Recently diagnosed with covid, "relies on four oxygen machines to breathe"

2. Yuan Weiren or Yuan Wei-jen (53) "Well-known Taiwanese singer-songwriter and producer" who had a cerebral hemorrhage in 2018, fell into coma for two months, diagnosed with brain tumor, fall in 2020, apparently now bedridden and in vegetative state.

3. Li Jiaxin (52) Hong Kong actress, went into ICU in critical condition a few months ago and "almost became a vegetable" but has now mostly recovered, not in serious condition.

4. Yu Yuanqi (38/39) Taiwanese singer, she's been suffering from terminal colorectal cancer for ages, estimated to have only two months to live last month.  DEAD

New Sohu article on "10 Hong Kong stars who have their own sadness":

1. Yue Chi Ming (78, wikidata) In very poor health, in and out of hospital with an unknown illness, looks absolutely horrible. DEAD

2. Chun Wong (74, wikidata) Obese actor/director in and out of hospital for years with falls and other ailments. However quite stable compared to the others.

3. Kent Cheng (71) two time recipient of the best actor award at the Hong Kong Film Awards, in poor health but can't retire due to poor financial choices, also his wife is very ill.

4. Gordon Liu (67 or 71) Martial arts actor known most for his roles in two Kill Bill films. Suffered a severe stroke in 2011 and now in a nursing home.

5. Richard Ng (82) Actor known for his comedic roles. Suffers from kidney failure and has been in and out of hospital recently. Also known for appearing on British tv: BBC Scotland soap River City, Phoo Action and one episode of The Bill. DEAD

6. Lo Hoi-pang (80) Suffers from cardiovascular disease and can't afford proper medical treatment.

7. Yu Miu-Lin (85) The one most of us know as she's been talked about a lot here. Immortal who suffers from pulmonary fibrosis, ton of other ailments and somehow survived being in serious condition with blood cancer for half a year over a year ago. Relatively stable now.

8. Paul Che Biu Law (63, wikidata) Just very poor and thin, not ill apparently.

The last two are ones who are already dead.

9. Hu Huang: Actor, suffered a severe stroke in 2019 and article says he died earlier this year at 76.

Finnish art forger, pool pick Veli Seppä dying again, but this time he isn't "dying", he's probably actually dying:

https://www.iltalehti.fi/kotimaa/a/c8137a0a-729b-4ef2-97cc-b517723220f0

He's had lung cancer since 2011, reported to be terminal and "on borrowed time" in 2019. He's been hospitalised for two weeks now and getting worse very quickly, but says that he still smokes and "this isn't hospice yet".

art forger Veli Seppä no longer dying, dead at 75

Mighty Sparrow ORTT CMT OBE, called the Calypso King of the World is now the oldest Calypso Monarch living. He's 86 and still performing

Since I posted this "Calypso King of the World" and former pool pick Mighty Sparrow, now 87, has been rumored dead, honoured with a "special day" in a country he's not from, apparently regretted the stuff he has sang about and joined the Seventh-day Adventists. (Yes, not the first 50s musician to suddenly turn to Christianity and regret everything they've done, but possibly the first one to do so who wasn't a massive piece of shit) And then he's released new music with some guy.

He also looks a lot frailer than before:

Seems to be almost unable to walk at all due to diabetes complications.

No, seriously.

From all I've read, prostate cancer, leukemia (?), cirrhosis, acute anemia, "spinal problems" sounds like that was a suicide attempt. Here's a video of him from a day or two ago

There are a few notable ones born 1918-1924 who don't have English wikipedia pages but who I know are still alive:

Ilmari Koppinen (1918, runner, WWII veteran with quite an interesting story), Eeri Hyrkkö (1922, longtime Centre Party influencer and local politician), Tuomas Haapanen (1924, violinist), Holger Thesleff (1924, philologist, historian, author of Studies in Plato’s Two-level Model), Satu Tiivola (1924, businesswoman), Ele Alenius (1925, former leader of political party SKDL, former Minister), Heimo Linna (1925, two-time Agriculture Minister)

Eeri Hyrkkö dead at 99. Would've been 100 on the 30th.
