Celestine Mushy, the Tanzanian ambassador to Austria, has died in a car accident. Yes, there is a joke in there about him possibly being Mushy in more ways than one.

I always expect someone named Celestine to be female.

Apparently discharged and healthy enough to be interviewed but permanently on oxygen now as he had a bad bout of pneumonia following the cocaine overdose

Andres Garcia actually looks fine in new instagram picture despite the article saying he's "very thin" and trying to make it sound like he's worse than before. Well, fine for someone who is 81, has prostate cancer and cirrhosis and recently overdosed on cocaine. He's only partially on oxygen now, two or three weeks ago I think he was pretty much bedbound 24/7 on oxygen and it seemed like he's in home hospice.

Picture of Urasenke tea master Sen Sōshitsu XV from yesterday or today:

He's apparently in Hawaii with some friend. Wearing the Tom Cruise Top Gun aviator sunglasses.

Sen Sōshitsu XV made an appearance at a Rotary meeting a few days ago:

He's in amazing health for his age, he can sit and stand straight, give speeches, needs no help in walking, walks pretty fastly and goes around talking with people, very lucid and gives speeches around twice a week and I assume he plans to be around in April-October 2025 for the 2025 World Exposition. However, not everyone makes it to 100 etc.

List of Calypso Monarchs from 1939-2010 (not including the newest ones) confirmedly still alive (there are a few early ones who are presumably dead), as some younger calypso singers (including 2003 monarch Singing Sandra):

From Wikipedia:

The Calypso Monarch (originally Calypso King) contest is one of the two major annual calypso competitions held in Trinidad as part of the annual carnival celebrations.

List:

1956, 1960, 1962, 1963, 1972, 1973 and 1992: Mighty Sparrow, real name Slinger Fransisco (b. 1935) 8-time winner called the "Calypso King of the World". Undefeatable not only in calypso but also in health, as he looks much younger than what he is and still performs.

1964: Mighty Bomber, real name Clifton Ryan (1928-2022) Alive according to facebook, it has recent pictures of him (ca. 2019) and a message presumably from him about celebrating his 93th birthday. Often confirms that he is alive on his birthday on 30th of January by thanking god for another year.

1976, 1977, 1981, 1989, 1993, 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2017: Chalkdust, real name Hollis Liverpool (b. 1940) Starting to look older, but still performs.

1978: Calypso Rose, real name Linda McCartha Monica Sandy-Lewis (b. 1940) Like Chalkdust, performs but looks old and likely not in perfect health.

1979, 1985, 1987, 1991 and 1995: Black Stalin, real name Leroy Calliste (1941-2022) Got a serious stroke in 2014 that has affected his speech, however likely indestructible as he has apparently got much better by now.

...

Updated. Turns out he wasn't so indestructible.

So sad to hear as Jack Frost was the movie that introduced me to Russian or more specifically, Soviet cinema. I think Natalya Sedykh is the only one from the main cast left.
