msc 18,466 Posted September 10, 2018 Given it''s theatre critics and actors (Robin Askwith is on twitter!), likely to be sadly true. Between Claudius (she played his wife Messalina that got her head chopped off), the Lynda la Plante link, the Confessions stuff, Oliver (is that cast cursed?), being Sharon Watts's mum on Eastenders, and Poldark, a proper obit *ought* to be up before end of the day.

alt obits guy 3,371 Posted October 21, 2018 Diana Sowle, forever to be remembered as Mrs. Bucket in 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory', has died. She was 88. Sowle was the last remaining major adult actor from the film. Only a few Oompa Loompas and the child actors remain, I believe. https://uk-reports.com/willy-wonka-the-chocolate-factory-actress-diana-sowle-dies-aged-88/

Bibliogryphon 9,581 Posted October 30, 2018 Here are the ten earliest surviving winners of the Evening Standard Theatre Award for the best actor. No real surprises in here but all worth keeping an eye on. The gaps probably say more than the names towards the bottom of this list ACTORS 1961 Christopher Plummer 1965 Ian Holm 1966 Albert Finney 1980 Tom Courtenay 1983 Derek Jacobi 1984 Ian McKellern 1985 Anthony Sher 1987 Michael Gambon 1998 Kevin Spacey 1999 Stephen Dillane
Bibliogryphon 9,581 Posted October 30, 2018 and of course the corresponding list for Actresses 1961 Vanessa Redgrave 1962 Maggie Smith 1963 Joan Plowright 1965 Eileen Atkins 1969 Rosemary Harris 1973 Janet Suzmann 1974 Claire Bloom 1977 Alison Steadman 1978 Kate Nelligan 1980 Judy Dench It is worth noting that this list ends 19 years before the Actors list. Maybe the cliche of the old drunken actor is not as cliched as perhaps thought

Lister is Kenneth Cope's wife and meant to be in worse health than the COPD afflicted Mr Hopkirk.

Peter Bowles (1936) looking like he'll be around for a bit. But Michael Gambon not looking brilliant... Rest (about 30 photos) here.
