Davey Jones' Locker 1,324 Posted November 21, 2012 I just remembered that Hazel Hawke is still alive but has been in high-dependency since 2009 due to her Alzheimer's. Like Reagan, she could go at any time or last for years to come but I humbly present her to the committee for due consideration.
Guest Guest X1 Posted November 22, 2012 Ten more potential suggestions: Gudrun Ure - aka Supergran of ITV fame. Surely a bit of a Dunn-type figure given that she played a geriatric nearly 30 years ago and is still going? John Glenn - Astronaut and former US Senator. 90 plus and now pretty frail. After missing out on Neil Armstrong this year surely we can't make the same mistake again? Valery Giscard D'Estaing - Former French President from the 1970s, now in his late 80s Kenneth Kendall - former newsreader and Treasure Hunt presenter. Now 88. Jack Charlton - lots of health scares lately for the former Republic of Ireland manager Jim Bowen - Bullseye host now in poor health Rear Admiral Morgan Morgan Giles - currently the oldest living ex British MP aged 98 Dame Maggie Smith - Downton dowager had cancer and heart trouble Val Doonican - octogenarian Irish singer Terry Biddlecombe - former Champion jockey who has been in poor health since a large stroke around a year ago
Bibliogryphon 9,586 Posted November 22, 2012 Ten more potential suggestions: Val Doonican - octogenarian Irish singer An interesting potential pick. Unless anyone has some more up to date information, he was still touring a couple of years ago. Like Ken Dodd.
Bibliogryphon 9,586 Posted November 22, 2012 I will just bring a little analysis of the 2012 list to the discussion Women made up 16% of the list and 9% of the deaths to date. British People made up 30% of the list and 27% of the deaths to date People aged 90 or above (at the start of the year) made up 52% of the list but only 45% of the deaths to date. But as with all statistices you could draw what conclusions you want from them.
maryportfuncity 10,647 Posted November 22, 2012 Assad is a good call IMHO, the point isn't that he's putting down the rebellion, it's that the rebellion has the hallmarks of an insurgency. Rebel tactics include getting insiders to attack, sometimes at the cost of their own lives. Regardless of how much of his country he controls, Assad could easily be targetted for a suicide mission with the aim of destablising his regime permanently. Toast 16,142 Posted November 24, 2012 10. Prince Phillip-92, British royal monarch PP is royal, but he isn't a monarch. Just saying. As for the 'British' bit, we'll let that go, too complicated.
