Sir Creep 7,070 Posted November 11, 2017 Not exactly a 'union', but.... Charles McMillan, who guided the National Association of Realtors (NAR) in the aftermath of the 2008 recession as the first black man elected as its president, died Wednesday in Fort Worth, Texas, following complications due to congestive heart failure, the association confirmed. He was 66. Under McMillan’s leadership, the association lobbied successfully for an $8,000 tax credit for first-time homebuyers, tackled rampant foreclosure rates and fought to prevent banking interests from entering the real estate industry, which NAR argued could stymie competition. Dude wasn't a tiny man, no wonder he dropped over at 66. Looks like Fats Domino!

Sanders, who worked as a business agent and trustee for the Operating Engineers 324 labor union, began serving as an at-large member of the police commission in December 2015 after being appointed by Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan. The Detroit Police Commission is a civilian oversight board comprised of four appointed and seven elected members tasked with guiding department policy, spending and investigating citizen complaints, among other duties. Skinny kiltrunner 553 Posted July 25, 2019 I may be reading too much into this, but regarding Karen Lewis, ex-leader of the Chicago teacher's union, this recent article states that she has been diagnosed with a brain tumor (yes, we know), and is unable to respond for comment. https://www.vox.com/the-highlight/2019/6/28/18662706/chicago-teachers-unions-strike-labor-movement She hasn't been one to shy away from making a statement in the past, so maybe this is significant? Sir Creep 7,070 Posted October 29, 2019 Moved story to another thread. Ah fuck it, I'll cross post, as it needs posting in both. Jimmy Boyle, a legendary New York firefighter, lost a long battle with cancer on Sunday. Boyle was 80 years old. He first joined the FDNY in 1962 and was a two-time head of the firefighter’s union before retiring in 1987. In 2001, he raced to Ground Zero on 9/11 to search for his 37-year-old son Michael, who was also a firefighter. Michael Boyle died when the towers collapsed.
