Dr. Zorders 1,271 Posted May 14, 2014 It was Shaun Ryder, lead singer of the British group Happy Mondays! (and all-around nutter/shambles). I guess they were expecting him to overdose on pills or whatever at the height of his Madchester fame. You must be an American, right? Check out their songs "Kinky Afro" and "Step on" on youtube or whatever and have a good time.

gcreptile 10,978 Posted May 14, 2014 You must be an American, right? Worse, German. The only band I know out of the Madchester list that Wikipedia gives me, is 808 State because they had a duet with Björk. Oh, and the Stone Roses because they had one officially great album (that I never listened to) and one disappointing second album. And I though that WInona Ryder might also be on the list because of a possible overdose.

I don't honestly think most people on our side of the pond would really be able to match her name to her face until that incident where she tried to stuff the entire contents of L.A. Fashion Week into her purse and stagger out the door with it - which I'm shocked to see, after looking on Wikipedia, that was actually in 2001 when I thought it was in like the mid-90s or something. Also I'm not sure if she had any drug problems that early on. If she did I doubt anyone knew about them.
