Youth in Asia 1,086 Posted October 4, 2010 Finally got a hit in 2010. Thought it would never come. The one time I went to Albania in the 90s I saw Wales v Albania and the Welsh fans wore Norman Wisdom hats. I don't think the locals knew what was going on. And why the hell are Sharon and Ruby Mohammed still alive? (that's Ariel Sharon, obviously not Sharon Mohammed).
honez 79 Posted October 5, 2010 Sounds like he had a pretty poor life to start with... His mother left home when he was nine, leaving him in the charge of his alcoholic father. His father gave him away to a family in Deal, Kent. The young Norman eventually tracked down his father, only to have the door slammed in his face when he showed up. He never saw him again.Leaving school at 13, he became an errand boy with a grocery store, He also worked as a a coal miner, waiter and cabin-boy, where the crew would make him box for money. As a teenager, he slept rough on the streets until someone suggested he join the army, seeing service in India and finally finding somewhere he felt he belonged. Rotten Ali 600 Posted October 5, 2010 Did Maryport just kill Norman Wisdom? Uncanny post by Maryport - 1 hour 19 minutes latter to have then have Dead added as the next post especially since the previous post was on May the 17th - That sort of closeness only happens on the real deathbed cases. Class act Sir Norman, you hit your comic timing again.

VSBfromH 74 Posted October 6, 2010 I didn't see it myself, but I am told that Sky were covering the story, and announced that they were shortly going to be showing a clip of Leslie Phillips giving his memories of Norman. As they went to the next story, they ran a line underneath reading "Norman Wisdom dies, Leslie Phillips next"

Lord Fellatio Nelson 6,218 Posted October 7, 2010 It is to be a public funeral: http://www.manxradio.com/newsread.aspx?id=47852 I think the least you could do, as the Poet Laureate of the IOM, would be to compose a special poem and read it out at his sevice. Granted, they may not let you into the church but a stout box to stand on and a megaphone would suffice.

Still Here 3 Posted October 24, 2010 I liked Norman but his time was well up. A good innings. Would have loved to be at his funeral...
